The evolution of the cloud-native ecosystem is evident in KubeCon's shift from a user-focused event to a developer-centric conference. In this episode of Let’s Talk, Rob Hirschfeld, CEO of RackN, discusses the growing enterprise adoption of Kubernetes, the impact of Broadcom's recent licensing changes, and the increasing importance of platform engineering. Hirschfeld highlights RackN's focus on bare metal #Kubernetes, #OpenShift, and self-service portals, emphasizing the critical role of events like KubeCon in fostering innovation and collaboration within the community. Hirschfeld notes, “We’re really focused on the people looking to bring Kubernetes back on-premises, repatriate workloads, and start driving Kubernetes into the heart of their infrastructure.” Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF)

Excited to return to #KubeCon next week! I had a great experience at KubeCon + CloudNativeCon NA in Chicago 2023 and look forward to the Salt Lake City edition. I'm excited about the co-located events, sitting in on certain talks, meandering the showcase area, nerding out with CNCF project maintainers, and attending some post-show events. I've lined up a number of interviews around some pressing topics I hope to cover for the publications I contribute to. Some topics I plan to explore: - Is #Kubernetes getting more usable? How so? - How #eBPF changes container networking - Cloud-native #opensource economy outlooks - How to get #platformengineering right for developers - #API industry trends for 2025 - Is #WebAssembly ready for the enterprise? - Will #AI-assisted development be normalized in 2025? If you have any leads or interesting perspectives for my coverage, feel free to reach out. https://lnkd.in/eHbXGTQD
See you at KubeCon + CloudNativeCon NA 2024!

What an incredible week in Paris for KubeCon 2024! 🗼 It was my first experience at such a significant event, and I must say, it exceeded all expectations. Amidst meeting new faces and engaging in the infamous "networking," I found myself not just learning, but truly energized. 💡 The daily grind often confines us to practicality, but here, I rediscovered the thrill of pushing boundaries and experimenting with various technologies like pieces of a puzzle. This rekindled curiosity is invaluable, and I owe a huge thanks to Go Reply and Marco Biscardi for believing in my ideas and affording me this incredible opportunity. 🙏🏻 🥇 Platform Engineering stole the spotlight at the event, with a plethora of talks and key players, including Backstage from Spotify, Humanitec, Port, and Cortex. While these themes are just emerging in Italy, they've already exploded onto the global stage, sparking discussions far and wide. Equally noteworthy were the discussions around observability, security, and cost control in the realm of cloud and Kubernetes. I was particularly fascinated by tools like Pelanor, #Falco, #CloudCustodian, and Otterize. Furthermore, the evolution of incident management tools, especially incident.io, left me eagerly intrigued. In summary, KubeCon was a whirlwind of fascinating insights and discoveries. There's so much more to explore and delve into, and I can't wait to dive deeper into these topics. What were your key takeaways from the event? Let's keep the conversation going! #KubeCon2024

💡 Why is Network Observability Challenging in Kubernetes? Kubernetes’ dynamic nature creates complex network connections and policy impacts. General-purpose tools often fall short in visualizing real-time traffic and policy mapping. Here's how Calico’s Kubernetes-native approach solves this: --Real-time traffic and network policy mapping --Enriched Kubernetes-specific metadata --No extra configuration needed https://lnkd.in/g8rxkP3V #Kubernetes #Observability #Calico #CloudNative Dhiraj Sehgal
