During the just-concluded The Redeemed Christian Church of God Annual Convention, I had the privilege of anchoring the Day 2 program and contributing to content creation throughout the week-long event. Some days ago, Moyosoreoluwa Aladesuyi mentioned that all we had done in that week is a boost to our CVs—and I couldn’t agree more! As a member of the Anchors Department, we handle everything from program planning and anchoring to backstage management, content curation, and production. Other departments like Media, Transport, Hospitality, and Protocol are all engaged in tasks that closely mirror those in our professional lives. Executing these roles for thousands of people without a hitch is no small feat—and it is certainly experience worth highlighting. It is easy to underestimate the value of unpaid work—whether it’s volunteering at church, taking on freelance gigs, or supporting a community project. But these experiences build skills, strengthen networks, and reveal our capacity to lead and collaborate in diverse settings. Every task, no matter how small, sharpens our adaptability, problem-solving, and organizational abilities. Whether we are managing large-scale events or handling day-to-day responsibilities, these contributions shape us into well-rounded professionals. Never discard the value of those “small” efforts; they are often the unseen building blocks of a solid career foundation.

Ok here it is! 🎤 I've started a project and I'd be really grateful if you could give me a follow - Girl Can Talk | Presenter I've never been one to shy away from the camera, or be particularly nervous standing up in front of a crowd (if there's karaoke, you KNOW I'm singing), so presenting has come fairly naturally to me. I've worked in the events industry pretty much my entire working life, so I understand what it takes to turn a good event into a really great event and the logistics involved as an event organiser. (For those that haven't organised events before, it's a lot. A lot more than you think. Then add some more.) Girl Can Talk has naturally grown into 'something' without me even really knowing it, so here's me turning that 'something' into a business of sorts. I love working in events, presenting is a real passion and I'm confident in my ability to be a strong collaborator for your project. Follow along on my Presenting Passion Project and please think of me if your business or charity is looking for a speaker, MC, commentator, or voice artist. I'd love to talk. 💻 www.girlcantalk.com 📧 enquiries@girlcantalk.com #presenter #mc #commentator #voicework #ukpresenters #eventprofs
Here's the HOW 🎤 To be totally honest, presenting wasn't something I'd purposely set out to do in the beginning. I didn't launch 'Girl Can Talk' then promote myself and look for work. The whole thing just kind of fell into my lap! There I was, minding my own business, doing my marketing day job, when the opportunity first arose - "We're looking for a commentator for our event. We know your personality and we think you'd be a great fit." The rest, they say, is history baby. From my first commentator role in 2023, to hosting large charity events and MC'ing on stage for thousands, to then being the voice at the largest mass participating sporting event across Devon and Cornwall with well over 9000 participants - it's been a bit of a whirlwind the past year, but it got me thinking... I absolutely love live events, I understand business, I understand the responsibility and what an honour it is to host an organiser's event and this presenting thing - well, it's a bit of me. So that's how this all came about. One presenting job turned into several, which then turned into bigger jobs, which in turn resulted in recommendations and the organic beginning of a new project - Girl Can Talk. ✉️ Get in touch via www.girlcantalk.com or email enquiries@girlcantalk.com #presenter #MC #commentator #voicework #ukpresenter

At the lowest point during my job search when I wasn't getting any results, a friend pulled me into volunteering for an organization that was important to him. I was resistant, at first. That invitation led to an experience that changed my life. Here are 5 reasons to volunteer during your job search: 1. Add purpose to your day beyond the job search: When job hunting feels overwhelming, volunteering provides structure and meaning to your days. 2. Network organically: Connect with people working on a common goal in a natural setting. 3. Keep your skills sharp: Volunteering lets you apply your professional skills while learning new ones. Plus, it fills a resume gap with meaningful experience. 4. Build Compelling Interview Stories: Volunteering shows initiative, community mindedness, and character. Your volunteer experiences can answer the "what have you been doing since your last job" question with authentic stories. 5. Make the World a Better Place: At the end of the day, this matters most. While you're working toward your next career move, you're also contributing to causes that make our communities stronger. Now's the perfect time. Check out Volunteer Match to find opportunities that fit your skills and interests. #JobSearch #FindPurpose #Volunteer #CareerCoaching #CommunityService #ProfessionalDevelopment
