🤝 Ten teams of academic entrepreneurs recently completed the ICURe Discover North East programme, a joint initiative from Opportunity North East Limited and the University of Aberdeen, in partnership with Innovate UK. 💡This programme took researchers on an eight-week journey, to equip them with invaluable market understanding and customer discovery skills. 🗨️ Jennifer Craw, CEO at Opportunity North East Limited, commended the participants: "The level of presentations was excellent, and showcased the potential and strength of the next generation of entrepreneurs in this region. “Our partnership with the University of Aberdeen and Innovate UK will continue to grow, providing further opportunities in the region and strengthening the entrepreneurial ecosystem. It’s helped me expand my network both locally and internationally. The Master Buddy Program links starting entrepreneurs to a team of master students. They are the buddy whose principal mission is to make an entrepreneur happy. The program starts in September and is open for registration. The program works pretty straight forward: an entrepreneur has a question and the Buddies act as a support to get to a solution. This can be about deceptively simple questions such as: 'What's an appropriate strategy for my company?', 'What opportunities are there within my market?' or 'Really, what do I have to offer to my customers?'. But simple questions are not always the easiest to solve. The Master Buddies spar, provide support, ask critical questions, have an analytical view and help bring up relevant data. They spend half a day per week on this for a full semester. Students come from the master's program Innovation & Entrepreneurship (I&E) at Radboud University. The program is organized in collaboration with local partners in and around #Nijmegen such as StartUp Nijmegen and Mercator Launch. Applications are open until 15 December 2024. 📈The Foundation supports ESSEC Business School student entrepreneurs through its "𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗮𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲" scholarship program, in partnership with ESSEC Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Congratulations to UCL's entrepreneurs! Of the 287 projects submitted to this year's Mayor's Entrepreneur Competition, 58 were ideas originating from UCL and 20 have been selected for the semi-finals! The students who devised the ideas came from ten faculties across UCL. We're now supporting our entrepreneurs to help them get through to the finals. UCL has performed well in previous years: five of the 20 businesses in 2023's final involved UCL students and graduates, including tech startup upLYFT, which won the Health category. I am honored to share that I have been selected again as a #Judge at the #HultPrize 2024 Global Accelerator! The Former US President Bill Clinton recently unveiled the 2024 Hult Prize Challenge at #Global Finals event in Paris, kicking off the 15th anniversary competition with a groundbreaking twist: This year's topic is: UNLIMITED! The Hult Prize challenges young people to #solve the world’s most pressing issues through social #entrepreneurship. This year the Call to #Action for #students around the world is to create a #betterworld. Students pitching ideas for a social enterprise, as long as it is world-changing and aligned with at least one of the #UnitedNations Sustainable Development Goals #SDG.
