I was leading a recruitment function. In one of the hiring process, an initial hire didn’t work out, highlighting a misalignment in understanding the team’s needs or cultural fit. I was deemed not fit for this role by my boss and was offered to work in other aspect of HR which was not of my interest. Rather than dwelling on the mistake, I learned from it, refining recruitment criteria and interview techniques to prevent similar issues. This reflective approach turned mistakes into actionable insights, enhancing both personal and organizational success. This “learning-first” perspective drove innovation and resilience, fostering a culture where I felt encouraged to experiment and grow without fear of failure.
