Principles and reasons The Humanities and Social Sciences Academic-Research Cooperation Network began with the signing of Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation Network No. 1 on 22 June 2007. At that time there were only 6 member institutions, but Now, the network has expanded the framework of cooperation until there are currently nearly 30 faculties members to cooperate in organizing important academic activities, namely organizing academic and research seminars to disseminate results at the national or international level once a year, which will lead Toward the development of knowledge in the humanities and social sciences to be stronger and more academically advanced. https://lnkd.in/duYT-PBh

We are excited to share the news of the launch and publication of a new special series in History Education Research Journal about ‘History Education in Historical Perspective’. Edited by Dr Tyson Retz (University of Stavanger, Norway) and Prof Terry Haydn (University of East Anglia, UK), this open access special series brings together a collection of high-quality articles that explore different national contexts of theory and practice, the different intellectual traditions of educational thought that have made an impact across national borders and papers that consider what, in the history of history education, remains a potentially valuable source of new insight. The intent is to provide new historical insights on these topics and to characterise the implications of this research. Contributors of the papers in this series bring their histories to bear on discussion of the current and future directions of historical teaching and learning. I give you a quiz. Those of us in education policy space. Translate what this means for you. Seeking the ‘Just’ in Liminal Spaces: Rebordering Conception, Definition, and Praxis of Education in the Global South. If our own experts on Global South decides to be to be so incomprehensible even for education policy audience, imagine how much they are understandable to poor bureaucrats and practitioner who are implementers in places like Odisha, Bahawalpur and Jaishoor? The simple translation of this is that "that education policy research and practice should account for the reality of mothers, head teachers who deal with particularly challenging issues like disability, autism, conflicts etc. That they should not feel limited by their own disciplines' frameworks. So basically, Robert Chambers whose reality counts argument." Should there be a movement to simply what we say?
A reflective co-authored piece based on work I have been doing with my PhD students: Stephanie Nowack, PhD Nikita Jha Camilla Hadi Chaudhary Basirat Razaq-Shuaib, PhD Surya Pratap Deka at the Faculty of Education. Based on our collective scholarship we argue that: "illuminating the liminality, the capturing of transgressions doesn’t happen by chance, but needs to be a conscious part of the research design." My most treasured moment was when a senior colleague came up after this symposium and noted, "now I understand what a well functioning research group looks like!" Permanent Crisis: The Humanities in a Disenchanted Age The humanities, considered by many as irrelevant for modern careers and hopelessly devoid of funding, seem to be in a perpetual state of crisis, at the mercy of modernizing and technological forces that are driving universities towards academic pursuits that pull in grant money and direct students to lucrative careers. But as Paul Reitter and Chad Wellmon show, this crisis isn’t new—in fact, it’s as old as the humanities themselves. Today’s humanities scholars experience and react to basic pressures in ways that are strikingly similar to their nineteenth-century German counterparts. The humanities came into their own as scholars framed their work as a unique resource for resolving crises of meaning and value that threatened other cultural or social goods. The self-understanding of the modern humanities didn’t merely take shape in response to a perceived crisis; it also made crisis a core part of its project. Through this critical, historical perspective, Permanent Crisis can take scholars and anyone who cares about the humanities beyond the usual scolding, exhorting, and hand-wringing into clearer, more effective thinking about the fate of the humanities. Building on ideas from Max Weber and Friedrich Nietzsche to Helen Small and Danielle Allen, Reitter and Wellmon dig into the very idea of the humanities as a way to find meaning and coherence in the world. https://lnkd.in/eMyBBVcC
