Bengaluru-based space-tech startup GalaxEye, whose five cofounders include an IIT-Madras alumnus, announced in an exclusive interview with ET that it is launching a multi-sensor Earth observation satellite, named 'Drishiti', in mid-2025 in collaboration with Elon Musk's SpaceX. GalaxEye is an incubated product of IIT-Madras. Infosys picked up a minority stake in GalaxEye for Rs 17 crore in September. "Infosys coming in is a game-changer, especially after the satellite goes into orbit, because we will have to handle an enormous volume of data," said Mehta, who graduated from IIT-Madras. This collaboration with Infosys will allow GalaxEye to tap into the IT company's expertise and worldwide network. "Infosys has a wide range of use cases, and instead of developing IT capabilities ground up, we want to focus on data processing and signal management. This partnership will enable us to build downstream applications that could be applied to several industries - maximizing the potential of the data from the satellite," elaborates Mehta. But that might not be sufficient for many industries, according to Mehta. "Companies typically rely on multiple sources of intelligence-from partners, industry experts, and so on to make well-informed decisions. Infosys has exposed us to that broader ecosystem to integrate the insights gleaned from different places," he said. https://lnkd.in/fzpnPPW #galaxeye #drishitisatellite #spacex #infosys #earthobservation #satellitetechnology #datamanagement #innovation #space #satellite #techcollaboration #startupecosystem #iitmadras #collaboration GalaxEye
