The Cleanalyzer is a high-end analytical system designed to examine particles on filters – a key procedure in performing reliable and reproducible evaluation of component cleanliness. Precision mechanical parts machined to exact tolerances are susceptible to damage or malfunction caused by particulate contamination. To address this issue, component cleanliness must be measured, and quantified in order to guarantee full function and to avoid failures due to particulate damage. Discrete frequency infrared-guided image for microplastic analysis: Performance and limitations Researchers in Dow’s world class Analytical Sciences group have cleverly applied quantum cascade lasers in a benchtop infrared spectrometer, marking a significant advancement in microplastic analysis. The method, employing discrete frequency infrared imaging, first distinguishes particles from reflective substrates before chemical identification. Testing with fluorescently labelled polyethylene and polymethyl methacrylate particles demonstrated impressive identification rates and selectivity, showcasing the technique's precision and reliability. I am eager to share the preprint of our work on imaging carbohydrate stereochemistry directly with non-contact AFM, the structure search aided by a combination of first-principles methods and machine learning to identify the highly flexible structures. We are able to link the on-surface chirality of the molecular monolayer to the stereochemistry of the individual carbohydrates. https://lnkd.in/gxci4jx9
