Some days are tougher than others, but here's a little secret to brightening your day: kindness! It doesn't cost a thing — and helping brighten someone's day can turn your mood around, too. At the Optum office, we left a whiteboard for anyone to thank a teammate. Tag and say thank you to someone in the comments. ❤️

Love this. Showing a little kindness and appreciation goes a long way. It helps to boost up your mood , motivates you and puts a snile on your face. You never know what a teammate is going through. I believe this is much needed in the work place.
A little kindness can go a long way, especially at work.
As leaders, we have a chance to shape a workplace where people genuinely care about and support each other. It’s not about grand gestures; it’s the small, everyday acts that make a difference—listening, showing gratitude, offering a hand when someone’s overwhelmed.
When we lead with kindness, we build trust and create a space where people feel safe to bring their whole selves. Here’s to making kindness a habit, not just today, but every day. #WorldKindnessDay#KindnessMatters#TeamCulture

Helping you retire well by building a plan tailored to your goals—whether that’s cutting back hours, adding income streams, or retiring early. Let’s simplify retirement planning and create a future you’re excited about.
As we navigate through turbulent times, where the National Health Service is under immense financial strain, concerns around the accessibility and quality of healthcare are escalating. At 'It's Your Life', we closely observe these developments with both professional discernment and human empathy.
Traditionally, the ability to schedule a doctor’s appointment was a bedrock of preventative healthcare, yet this has now become perilously uncommon, calling attention to the need for systemic reforms. Furthermore, the degradation of treatment quality—in part due to these financial pressures—signals an alarming trajectory for patient welfare. Most distressing is the potential for catastrophe if these trends are not arrested, which could ripple through society with indelible consequences.
Aligned with 'It's Your Life’s' mission of fostering health and ensuring wellness, we urge collective consciousness and action against these growing healthcare adversities. We remain advocates for health sovereignty, rooted in the belief that quality healthcare is a cornerstone of thriving communities. Through unity, innovation, and steadfast resolve, we can confront these challenges head-on.🛡️
We invite you to join us in reimagining a sustainable healthcare model that upholds the sanctity of life and reaffirms the principle: It's not just health; it's your life. Together, let's make every choice count towards a legacy of health that honors our individual and collective well-being.🌟Join my #facebook group to hear my challenges this week with the #NHS in relation to my #thyroidhealth
Today is Long Covid Awareness Day across the world.
Many of you will know my friend and colleague Anna Bell who I met on an NLP programme in September 2017.
When I broke my femur and couldn’t work, amongst other things, Anna invited me on her writing programme that made a huge difference for me. When Covid hit and all my work was cancelled one day (that was quite a day!!), we talked on zoom and started delivering NLP workshops together. We share a love of good food, art, travel, making things and much, much more.
Over the last few years we’ve developed and delivered leadership training, coaching, NLP training, conference workshops and all sorts. And we’ve had many, many planning catchups chatting about anything and everything as well as work.
Last February we travelled to India together flying to Chennai and visiting Puducherry then flying to Kochi to visit Cherai Beach in Kerala. It was fabulous. And then, probably on the flight home, we both got Covid.
I recovered in a week or so and Anna’s lingered.
I watched my friend struggle to work, cancel meetings and coffee catchups, change and postpone plans. She did so with grace and care and I knew she felt guilt despite my protests that it was fine and people understood.
And even though I said I understood I couldn’t really understand what it was like, and I suspect others didn’t either.
Please read Anna’s blog. It’s helped me understand and it only takes three minutes to read.
I say ‘only’. For someone with long Covid I suspect there is no ‘only’ in that or any sentence. Rathert it’s three minutes of effort. Please make the effort. The link to it is in the comments.
This past year has been the most challenging of my life so far. And it's far from over.
Today is exactly 4 years since I had covid for the first time. It's also long-covid awareness day across the world. In this blog I aim to raise awareness of what it can be like to live with the condition, and in the spirit of inclusion, suggest some ways to offer support and understanding to people who are affected.
Please take 3 minutes to go through it. You might be surprised by some of what you read.
I'm already receiving feedback that it's helping people with long-covid, and those who care about them to understand, so please feel free to share this with your friends, family, and colleagues.

As a birthday gift this March, I gave myself permission to start something I’m really passionate about and the world desperately needs.
I’ve been thinking about this for the last 2 years..
But holidays really give you the space you need to say ok, I’m fully in!
Not a lot of you know, but I was suffering with chronic migraine (15+ migraine attacks per month) for 6 months in 2021 and chronic head pain for 2-3 years after. Meaning they only recently got better..
I self-referred myself to the National Migraine Centre (as I didn’t get proper help from the NHS but that’s a whole other story), where the specialist advised me to go on daily medication.
That was the turning point when I felt this can’t be me, I’m so young, I can’t possibly take medication everyday, especially with the endless side effects that were attached with the prescription.
But before that, she also advised me I can make lifestyle changes and see how it goes, so I did.
I found conflicting advice but thanks to social media and years of scrolling, I came across tools, techniques and tips that led me to being pain free today.
I have so much that I feel like I owe to social media, but I know it’s a tool that’s not easy accessible or inclusive for everyone.
And I want to change that.
And that’s where Inclusion at Scale comes in the picture, under which I will share free content on how creators or brands can create accessible and inclusive content.
If we don’t change how we use social media, we will create an even bigger gap in opportunities and information for those who are already marginalized.
My ask for this community, please engage and share this content.
I can’t do it alone, but with your help, we can.

When a pledge becomes a policy: Nearly 1 year ago, on #WorldCancerDay our CEO Vincent Warnery and our CHRO Nicola Lafrentz signed the Working with Cancer Pledge by PublicisGroupe.
Now we are fulfilling what we promised by introducing our Global Critical Illness Policy at Beiersdorf. In line with our commitment to care beyond skin, this policy aims to establish minimum standards worldwide and provide employees diagnosed with cancer or another critical illness, as well as employees in a primary caregiver role, with access to its benefits, irrespective of the local social security system. This includes:
💙 Financial stability and job security for employees facing life-threatening diseases for up to one year after diagnosis as well as personalized work accommodation and reintegration support.
💙 Up to 10 days of compassionate leave for primary caregivers and up to 10 days of bereavement leave for all employees.
💙 Internal awareness programs and trainings: It is our endeavor to remove any associated stigma and encourage all Beiersdorfers to share their stories and listen to each other.
💙The emphasis on the importance of prevention because an early diagnosis can increase the chance of a full recovery, particularly in the case of cancer.
Whether it's you or someone you love affected by a critical illness, your life is turned upside down. During these critical moments and as a cornerstone in employee care, we stand by them and support in the best way we can.

It's World Kindness Day - a global day to promote the importance of being kind to others and to ourselves. It doesn't take much to show a little kindness - a smile, holding the door open, providing directions (although not coming from me - that would certainly be more of a hindrance).
Kindness plays an important role in general practice. It helps to build trust and rapport, enhances the patient experience, reduces anxiety and supports healing. It's also contagious, making GPs perfectly placed to help create the next pandemic. A kindness pandemic. 😊

𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗱𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁-𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻? 💬
Let’s be real; election seasons can leave us all a little frazzled - relief, hope, worry, and maybe even a “did that really just happen?” moment or two. So wherever you land today, give yourself permission to breathe, pause, and go easy on yourself. It’s a rollercoaster, and we’re all on it. 🎢
Some gentle (but 𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘭) reminders for the days ahead:
• 𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗼𝗸𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗲𝘁 𝗯𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 around political talk - yes, even at work and with that one family member. 😉
• 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘄𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮 when it starts to feel like too much.
• 𝗙𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲, 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗻𝗼𝘄 - it’s a great way to stay grounded when the big stuff feels too overwhelming
• 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 - friends, family, or professional resources who get it and get you.
• 𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝘂𝗽 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗿𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 - there’s comfort in the familiar, especially now.
• 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗰𝘀: rest, move your body, enjoy some real food, and get outside for a bit. 🌿
I’m especially grateful for this community of people who don’t just connect professionally but show up with kindness and understanding. We’re all human, and sometimes it’s the simple reminders that help us stay grounded.
𝗦𝗼, 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸? Drop your best self-care tips in the comments, or just say hi. Let’s keep this space as a little haven for support and calm. 🌱
