Did you know that there is a big celebration in Timor-Leste today? No, it is not because of the US 4th of July... IT IS THE NATIONAL DAY TO CELEBRATE PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES IN OUR BELOVED TIMOR-LESTE! This is a day to recognize the different abilities that enrich our community and support our sustainable development. While much still needs to be done to secure the rights of all without discrimination, Timor-Leste is strongly committed to taking decisive steps toward creating an inclusive community. Timor-Leste has ratified the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and has also approved a National Action Plan. The country implements social assistance for PwD and is slowly but progressively including their voices in decision-making and contributions to driving development. JU,S is also benefitting from an inclusive workplace and learning from our staff experience with their own ability levels. We are also investing in a more inclusive justice system with a scholarship for a female with disability to study Law. Together we can more. Together we can change.

As the President of #RCSN, I am privileged to witness firsthand the transformative power of sports in the lives of individuals with disabilities. Our journey is aligned with #SaudiVision2030, which aims to foster inclusivity, diversity, and excellence in every sector, including sports. We believe sports build confidence and community. With strategic partnerships and significant financial support, we are breaking down barriers and creating opportunities for all athletes. #SaudiArabia’s $1.3 billion investment in supporting people with disabilities underscores our commitment to empowerment. These resources provide assistive devices, training programs, and financial support, helping over 400,000 individuals. With collective effort and unwavering commitment, we can achieve great things for athletes with disabilities. The future is promising, and together, we can make a significant impact. #InclusiveSports #Empowerment #Leadership #DisabilityInclusion

Inclusion tip from team member Lisa Drennan: Strengthen your disability inclusion initiative by getting your camp staff on board. 👍Organize collaborative planning sessions to engage their feedback - what is working well? Needs improvement? 👍Starting to use visual tools? Ask your staff for their input on design & how and when to introduce them. 👍Set up feedback channels via suggestion boxes, surveys and regular check-ins. 👍Engage your staff in a conversation around modifying games, sports or activities to incorporate universal design principles. Give your staff more agency in decision making. The result? Reduce resistance and increase buy-in.

Wiltshire is home to a diverse community, with 17% of its population living with a disability or long-term health condition that limits their daily activities. However, only 40% of disabled people in Wiltshire and Swindon feel they can be as active as they would like, compared to 69% of non-disabled people. Disabled people are also less than half as likely to ‘see people like them’ playing, working, and volunteering in sport and physical activity, which can further discourage participation. To address these challenges, Wiltshire and Swindon Sport (WASP) and Wiltshire Council are working together to showcase the inclusive opportunities and local initiatives on offer in the county. WASP’s Get Out Get Active programme encourages participation for all abilities, while the Wiltshire Inclusive Dance project provides a creative and accessible way for people to stay active and connected. These initiatives aim to ensure that physical activity is welcoming and accessible for everyone in the community. Look out on our socials throughout this week for inclusive opportunities across the county!

Inclusion: the act or practice of including and accommodating people who have historically been excluded (as because of their race, gender, sexuality, or ability). If you moved to a foreign country to accept a new job, surely you would feel excluded culturally. If it's your first day in the gym, you would feel out of place and would be overthinking your form. You would try your hardest to feel included in this foreign country you'd eventually call home. You would also try your hardest to perfect your form in the gym. In this same way, people with disabilities want to feel 🌟 included 🌟 in their everyday lives, including in the workplace. Reach out to your nearest Vocational Rehabilitation office to find out how you can collaborate to be inclusive and make a difference in someone's life ✔
