The #OriginAmenitySolutions team enjoyed hosting our latest R&D Workshop yesterday, this time at the fantastic Rudding Park Golf Club! This informative workshop was all about #SoilBiology and biological solutions, covering the OAS Biological Range as well as a general overview on the topic and the soil food web. Thank you to all that attended, we hope you found the event useful! Keep an eye out for details on future events like this on our social media pages. Greg Milton Kevin Scarce

Last week, we published a paper challenging the idea of identifying cultivated coca based on leaves, as sometimes it was considered useful for tracking varieties distribution in Colombia for cocaine production. Given that previous studies demonstrated that the cultivated cocas are not sister groups, more uncertainty was added to the potential management and identification of varieties employed for cocaine or traditional uses. In this paper, we found that using morphometrics of species in this clade (the cultivated and the closest wild relatives), and phylogenomics challenge the clade's current taxonomy, propose potential gene flow between some cultivated and wild lineages, and open new questions regarding the influence of recent management in the domestication of these plants. Hello everyone! Happy to share with you that my very good friend Diogo C. has just published his work entitled “Antimicrobial Activity, Genetic Relatedness, and Safety Assessment of Potential Probiotic Lactic Acid Bacteria Isolated from a Rearing Tank of Rotifers (Brachionus plicatilis) Used as Live Feed in Fish Larviculture” in Animals MDPI. Interestingly, this work reports, for the first time, the isolation and characterization of #LacticAcidBacteria (#LAB) with potential use as #probiotics in aquaculture from #rotifer rearing tanks, which have the potential to optimize #turbot #larviculture and to introduce novel microbial management approaches for a #SustainableAquaculture. Beyond the scientific importance of this work, which is not in my power to evaluate, I am very happy to act as corresponding author of this publication as it is the last of the papers that will form the corpus of Diogo's doctoral thesis at Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Well done, dude! Full text: https://lnkd.in/dRuFsYJw MDPI #mdpiopenaccess
