Want to build a business that runs without you? Here’s the playbook: 1. Productize your knowledge. → You’re sitting on years of experience. Package it up. Create something scalable (course, ebook, SaaS, community). 2. Start SMALL. → Forget perfection. Launch version 1.0, even if it’s not fancy. Refine later. You don’t need 1,000 customers, just 10 to validate. 3. Build in public. → Share the process. Wins, losses, everything. People love transparency. This builds trust *and* an audience. 4. Automate. → Anything repetitive? Automate it. I use software for scheduling, payment processing, and customer onboarding. Get your time back. 5. Delegate. → Hire before you think you're ready. Trust me. Offload tasks that don't require *your* unique skills. Focus on what moves the needle. 6. Rinse and repeat. → Consistency is the differentiator. Do it daily. Show up. Your 3 minute masterclass in business building (lessons learned). If you are in business, learn from my mistakes. (Especially the first one.) I've been in product development for many years now. And I've probably made almost every mistake possible. That's cost me millions of $$$. Let's save you from doing the same. 7 business building steps you must do before you launch anything: 1. Be Different. Use category design to find your difference. The world doesn't need yet another better mousetrap. 2. Create Your Point of View (POV) Carefully craft your POV in a story format. The POV must explain the problem you've uncovered. And how you solve in a way that make sense to the reader (think Uber, Airbnb). 3. Develop Your Framework. Before you develop your products and services - write out your framework. A framework defines your customer. Then the customer transformation. Then outcomes. Put that together in a mental model and method. You have your framework. 4. Create Your Community. Today it's critical to develop a community and find your customer advocates. This is not about getting leads. Or converting those leads to read your newsletter. It's about a place where your advocates hang out with you digitally to share everything. 5. Develop Your Product. You'll do this in parallel while developing your product or service. It's no longer good enough just to understand your ideal customer profile (that's 2D). Communities are 3D and bring life to your product. 6. Create Your Content Strategy. Your content must make the reader think. It's got to be different. Not status quo. Or you're in the noise. We call this breakthrough content. Be a category of 1 in creating your content. 7. Foster Your Movement. If you've done all 6 steps right, you're movement will gradually appear. A movement takes time to develop. When it does, you magnetically attract people to you. You don't have to go to market. --- That's a wrap! What are your thoughts?
