Tech teams have been using "hackathons" to solve problems together for years. How amazing is it that the Chicago CPCU Society is sponsoring a Risk A Thon to bring that same spirit of collaboration to risk management?

Even more exciting is the partnership with students from Illinois State University’s Katie School of Risk Management and Insurance. This is innovation at the ground level, where the future of our industry is learning and contributing.
What is Risk A Thon?
The Risk A Thon concept was born from the mind of Vincent Bonny, CPCU, and the European CPCU Chapter, who thought: Can risk management be improved by applying the same lessons learned from tech hackathons?
The answer was yes! The event brings together risk professionals ("Risk Scientists") and start-up innovators ("Risk Takers" from insurtech, fintech, and digital asset companies) to collaborate, problem-solve, and push the boundaries of risk thinking.
Since the first Risk A Thon in Zurich in 2019, this concept has grown into a global initiative. It’s thrilling to see how it’s taken root in the US with past events in Cincinnati (2022) and Bermuda (2023), and now here in Chicago!
Looking forward to a day of innovation, learning, and pushing the limits of what’s possible in risk management!
