Check out our latest blog post with Maggie Kettler, Audiologist at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. Maggie shares how her team is pursuing CMV screening through hospital-based initiatives. Maggie shared, "From the beginning, our team has been focused on why this is so important. A timely diagnosis of cCMV leads to timely intervention. We looked at other states and other groups to see what was successful. Many states with legislation have struggled with implementation and others have struggled for years in the legislative process. Our team believes that healthcare decisions should be made by healthcare providers. The best use of our resources is to educate and provide information to medical professionals rather than working with legislators." This new tool is making a big difference for our physician partners at DaVita. With Point of Care Clinical Support (POCCS), physicians can receive guideline-based treatment recommendations all in one location, and it ensures they have that information where it matters most—at the point of care. Our chief medical officer of home modalities, Dr. Mihran Naljayan, discusses POCCS and the impact it's already having on home modality education and clinical burnout: https://ow.ly/AmS630sBeUP.

The Power of Listening in Healthcare. At Hunter Eye Surgeons and Newcastle Eye Hospital, we believe that patient care extends beyond medical expertise—it starts with communication. While our doctors are committed to ensuring their patients fully understand their treatment, it’s often our admin and reception teams who set the tone for that experience. As the first and last point of contact, we strive to listen carefully to every patient, ensuring their concerns are heard and their questions answered. We know that clear communication builds trust, and in those few instances where something goes wrong, it almost always traces back to a misunderstanding. Our goal is to prevent that from happening by fostering an environment where patients feel genuinely heard. Great patient care isn’t just about medical outcomes—it’s about making patients feel understood every step of the way. #PatientCare #CommunicationMatters #HealthcareTeamwork #ListeningToPatients

Hey Critical Access Hospital & Clinic friends! Quick question for you: how many of you have done a home visit with a patient? Home visits have a long history in medicine. Back in the early 1900s, almost 40% of all medical visits happened at home. I’ve had the chance to see patients in their homes from time to time, and I have to say—it’s one of the best ways to really understand a patient’s life and what they need. The connection and trust you can build in just one visit feels deeper than what you might achieve with several clinic or hospital visits. In a world where we’re constantly being asked to do more/see more, it’s nice to slow down and focus on why we got into this field in the first place. Plus, it’s just as rewarding for you as it is for the patient! If you haven’t done a home visit yet, give it a try—you won’t regret it!

In Emergency Physicians Monthly, Drs. Michael Silverman and Mark Goldstein explore the difficult decision to step down the administrative ladder from being a medical director. Turns out this is actually pretty common. In fact, some describe stepping down from being a medical chair as “having a weight lifted off their back”. Read more about the pros and cons of being a medical director or chair, and how you might decide if it’s right for you, in this post: https://lnkd.in/gHVRyTa5

I came across a fascinating video of a groundbreaking approach to pediatric care. The young patient is engrossed in a video game while undergoing a medical procedure, seemingly unaware of the operation in progress. What creative solutions can you envision for alleviating stress and anxiety in adult patients during medical procedures? How might these innovations impact patient satisfaction and potentially even recovery times? Let's discuss the future of patient-centric care and the role of technology in reshaping the healthcare experience. #HealthcareInnovation #PatientExperience #MedicalTechnology #FutureOfHealthcare #DigitalHealth
