FFN - Fragility Fracture Network conference 2024 Today we presented our pilot project of online osteoporosis consultations as a supplement to our app “Mine Knogler” in collaboration with Osteoporoseforeningen at the FFN konference in Aarhus. Our abstract was accepted for a poster presentation. Both Rasmus Dahl-Larsen & Pernille Ravn Jakobsen were participating and had a lot of good dialogues with the participating clinicians and researchers. Also representatives from our advisory board pernille hermann and Michael Schønemann Rand participated in the conference and as co-authors of the abstract and poster. Nice to meet so many skilled people in the osteoporosis ecosystem again. The future really looks bright with all the promising projects going on within osteoporosis ⭐️ And thank you for all the nice feedback on our online osteoporosis support. We keep on trying to optimize osteoporosis care by using personalized data and digital support. See you next year 😊

Check out our new video series: Science Spotlight! ✨ I spoke with Liliana Moreira Costa, PhD, whose research is paving the way for improved preclinical models of pulmonary hypertension, a life-threatening condition caused by persistent clots blocking the pulmonary arteries. Dr. Moreira-Costa and her team at the University of Porto have developed a simple, reproducible swine model that closely resembles what is seen in human patients. In the future, this model could be used to test new therapies and further uncover the underlying mechanisms of this serious condition! ✨ Watch the full interview to learn how this innovative research is tackling one of the most challenging cardiovascular conditions. https://lnkd.in/eU9FAxPc

Good luck Laura Miles presenting at International Congress for Breath Research Conference (IABR Breath summit) Indiana, US next week. The use of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in exhaled breath as biomarkers for human health and disease offers a promising, non-invasive diagnostic tool that has the potential to transform clinical practice. Laura will be discussing how thermal desorption can be used to: - extend the dynamic range for breath analysis - generate pooled biological quality control samples that can be used for proficiency testing and longitudinal studies - easily address the high sample volumes generated from large scale breath analysis studies #BreathResearch, #Breathomics, #ThermalDesorptionWithoutCompromise
😮💨 Re-collection of breath samples for extended analyses is a hot topic in breath research – and at this year’s International Congress for Breath Research (IABR) Conference, our Senior Application Specialist Laura Miles will be giving a talk on the subject, explaining how the technique extends the dynamic range of breath analysis. Laura will also discuss how re-collection can generate pooled biological quality control samples that can be used for proficiency testing and longitudinal studies. Our Vice President, Americas, Jeff Tompkins, will also be attending the Summit, sharing his knowledge of the analytical instruments that are behind the advances in this rapidly progressing research area. This week, I had the opportunity to attend the 3rd Virtual International Conference on Carotenoids, where I was pleased to present the results of an experiment I've been working on as part of my Master's Thesis: "Evaluating metabolic programming by β-carotene during the perinatal stage in mice lacking or expressing BCO1." It was a great opportunity to update current knowledge on the multiple health benefits of carotenoids.

Here we go! Pancreatic fistula is the elephant in the room as it is the most feared and dangerous complication after pancreaticoduodenectomy. There are many ways to prevent it, including different types of pancreaticojejunostomy and stent placement. With this 10-question survey, we aim to investigate which precautionary measures are most commonly used to guide future research protocols. If you and your centre are interested in participating in our future research protocols, please leave your e-mail address at the end of the survey and we will get back to you with all updates. The ball is in your court! Riccardo Memeo

NEW in! #EJPRD and International Rare Diseases Research Consortium (IRDiRC) just published two groundbreaking papers that help pave the way for the future of research data sharing and information governance 1: Getting your DUCs in a row - standardising the representation of Digital Use Conditions https://lnkd.in/gRzs6UBV 2: Common conditions of use elements. Atomic concepts for consistent and effective information governance https://lnkd.in/gBRKj5Hs Together, these publications describe a comprehensive approach to summarizing and managing use conditions for biomedical resources. The DUC schema offers a structured way to collect and standardize information, while the set of common use condition elements ensures consistency and clarity. By assigning permissions and restrictions, and specifying the scope and details of conditions, research activities can be better aligned with institutional missions, funding objectives, and regulatory requirements.
