ThorPlas-Blue has proven to be a durable, low-maintenance solution for Navy Landing Craft Utility hinge bushings, with refurbishments that took place in May 2019. The challenge involved bushings located outside the landing ramp, which are exposed to sea elements and cannot be regularly greased when the ramp door is closed. This lack of lubrication led to grease turning into sludge, causing seizing, increased wear, noisy operation, and maintenance delays. To address these issues, ThorPlas-Blue was installed in September 2017 and again in May 2019, effectively eliminating lubrication problems, seizing, and maintenance delays.
