Honoring Our Heroes This Veterans Day Today, we pause to recognize and honor the brave men and women who have served our country with courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment. At Operation Stand Down Tennessee, we are proud to stand beside Veterans in their journey, providing support, resources, and a community that cares. Veterans Day is a reminder that the freedoms we enjoy today are due in no small part to the service and sacrifices of those who wore the uniform. Whether on the battlefield or back home, the strength and resilience of our Veterans inspire us every day. To all the Veterans we have had the privilege of serving—and to those we have yet to meet—thank you for your service and your dedication. We are honored to be part of your continued journey.

Veterans with mobility issues through being wounded, injured, illness or age, deserve to be able to travel with dignity, not be manhandked on and off aircraft like a sack of potatoes, risking injury, or death. They deserve to know their wheelchairs will not be damaged during a flight or during loading and unloading. United Airlines had the opportunity to have its replacement fleet accessible but chose not do. Janet do not wait for legislation that could force your airline to be accessible but show some humanity and humility to not only disabled veterans but all mobility disabled people, first by starting discussions with your aircraft manufacturers to make accessibility a priority. https://chng.it/XLVWt2Ls5y #unitedairlines #health #wellbeing #veterans #MemorialDay #AccessibleTravel #Wheelchairs #Disability #Transportation #aviation #AccessibleTourism #PVA #aircraft #accessibility #military #veteransaffairs

On Remembrance Day, we take a moment to honour the brave men and women who have served in our armed forces, reflecting on the significant sacrifices they’ve made for our freedom. Yet, for many veterans, their battle doesn’t end with military service. Transitioning to civilian life can be tough, as they face challenges such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), the search for purpose, and the need for social connections. I'm calling on my network to support a highly personal and crucial piece of legislation that impacts the lives of our combat-injured veterans: the Major Richard Star Act (S. 344). This act, with over two-thirds of Congress backing it, aims to correct an injustice faced by many of our heroes who have sacrificed so much for our nation. The current system unjustly reduces retired pay dollar-for-dollar by the amount of disability compensation received. Retired pay is earned through years of dedicated service, while disability compensation addresses lifelong injuries. These benefits, established by Congress for entirely different reasons, should not be offset against each other. As Lt. Col. Mark Belinsky, USA (Ret), MOAA's director of Government Relations for Currently Serving and Retired Affairs, said, “Saving money on the backs of our combat-injured is a problem Congress can fix this year.” It's time for our leaders to take action. Let's urge Congress to include the Major Richard Star Act in the FY 2025 NDAA. Our combat-injured veterans deserve better. Please join me in supporting this vital legislation and ensuring that our heroes receive the benefits they rightfully earned without unjust offsets. #Veterans #SupportOurTroops #MajorRichardStarAct #NDAA #MilitaryFamily #VeteranAdvocacy https://lnkd.in/e7gvpB3Q
Join us in our work to help combat injured veterans at moaa.org/staract Along with The Military Coalition, Mark Belinsky, MSA, Levi Sadr, Non Commissioned Officers Association (NCOA), Matthew Schwartzman, Reserve Organization of America (ROA), and many more worked hard on the Hill yesterday to support the Richard Star Act.

Listening to these comments in the video you can see a common thread that “serving others” has AT LEAST a 2-fold benefit……..it obviously benefits the one being served, AND it also benefits the one serving!! Lesson to be learned: it’s always a WIN-WIN to serve.
Thank you to all the brave men and women who have served in our armed forces. We recognize you and your families’ sacrifices to defend our freedom. We are proud and honored to employ over 2,000 veterans and salute you. #VeteransDay
