In October, we’re celebrating 11 years of Osvitoria! 🎉 Osvitoria is a nonprofit organization that has been driving school education reform and development in Ukraine for over a decade. We believe that a better future starts with inspired, skilled, and passionate teachers. Supporting educators is at the heart of creating positive change not just in education but in society as a whole. Here’s what we focus on: - Innovative educational projects — from interactive learning platforms to large-scale programs that transform classrooms. - Access to quality education — we work to ensure that every child in Ukraine has the chance to learn and thrive, no matter their circumstances. - Training and supporting Ukrainian teachers — our projects help teachers grow, share knowledge, and stay motivated on their journey to make a difference. Over the years, Osvitoria has grown into a strong educational movement with dozens of initiatives, uniting hundreds of dedicated professionals, and reaching millions of children. We’re transforming education step by step, opening new doors for teachers, and creating a space for positive change. 💫

Less than 25% of girls finish lower secondary school in sub-Saharan Africa, indicating a major education gap (UNICEF). In conflict zones, girls are 2.5 times more likely than boys to miss out on schooling (UNICEF). Guinea urgently needs more investment in education, particularly for girls facing obstacles like early motherhood and unintended pregnancies. This is an area with perhaps the greatest potential for changing health, education, economic, and societal outcomes.
The ECHO for Education Early Childhood Team enjoyed their recent time at the annual NMAEYC conference. During the event the team heard many heartwarming stories about the experience of our community members in joining ECHO sessions. They even had a chance to connect with Secretary Groginsky from NM ECECD for a quick moment! You can learn more about the early childhood team and their programs here: https://bit.ly/4d19yoj @nmececd

When the Curtain Falls: The Encore Performance of Our Everyday Unsung Heroes It was the final performance of the school play—a production put together with more passion than budget, more enthusiasm than experience. As the audience clapped and the curtain fell, Mrs. Langley, the director and a seasoned English teacher, gathered her young cast backstage for a final huddle. Her words were simple, yet heartfelt: "What you did on stage was more than act; you brought stories to life, taught lessons without a textbook, and reached hearts beyond these walls." Little did the students know, the school had almost cut the drama program due to budget constraints. But Mrs. Langley, determined not to let that happen, volunteered her time after school, seeking donations for costumes and set pieces, proving her belief in the program's value for student growth and confidence. This story isn't just about saving a program or a successful school play. It's about the often unseen dedication of teachers like Mrs. Langley, who work tirelessly behind the scenes. These are the educators who stay late, come early, and go beyond their job descriptions to ensure that every child can experience success and joy in learning. As the school year draws to a close and we celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week, let's remember and celebrate the Mrs. Langleys in schools across the country. It's their unwavering commitment, often unnoticed until the curtain falls, that truly shapes the future of our children. This week, let's give them the standing ovation they deserve, not just now but every day, for their relentless dedication and impact goes far beyond the fleeting moments of applause. #TeacherAppreciationWeek #EverydayHeroes #EducationImpact #BeyondTheClassroom

The Black church may not have even had a building, but created this social structure that was used as a financial institution to empower the Black community. The Church tithed, gave money, but it wasn't just to support the church; it was to support freedom. It helped to fund the Underground Railroad, an escape of slaves and resettlement. In states and countries that did not have slavery, it also supported Black communities in times of emergency. It funded not just the community needs and emergencies; it also funded the formation of Black businesses. So many of the earliest economic institutions in the U.S. were funded by the philanthropic institution called the Black church.
