"Piles of sh*t" on the street have recently started to irritate citizens of Tartu who have a more critical artistic sense. We won't argue about taste, but we're proud to contribute to the Let's Go to Zero! traveling exhibition. Working with plastic waste daily, we know the problem very well. Plastic keeps accumulating, but ideas for its recycling are scarce. Thus, the waste keeps piling up and piling up. While this usually happens away from city streets, that's all the more reason to bring it to where the people are and shake them a bit. Bringing the results of excessive consumption to its source, to the front of a shopping center, it certainly appears disturbing to some, but for others, the meters-high plastic waste mountain might raise questions like "Why?" and "How can we do better?" We recommend keeping an open mind about art, taking a look at the Let's Go to Zero! traveling exhibition, and thinking about how we could one day together reach a point where there's no longer a reason for such shocking exhibitions.

💚 🚢 Canal de Panamá recently announced a pilot program to auction exclusive slots to Green Neopanamax container ships from January 2025 - in alignment with the Canal's commitment to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, and following its March 2024 announcement to invest $8.5 billion in modernization and green technology by 2030. Programs like these enable ports, harbors and canals to incentivize the transition to zero-emission shipping, and it's great to see the Panama Canal taking up the torch under the leadership of Ilya Espino de Marotta. By providing priority/exclusive berthing, discounted wharfage rates and other benefits to cleaner vessels, ports, canals et al create economic incentives to make investing in cleaner tech not only the right thing to do for community and climate, but a smart economic decision, too. Keep up the good work Canal de Panamá!
Last week the #PanamaCanal announced that an exclusive slot will be auctioned to green neopanamax container ships, starting 1 January 2025. The dedicated space will be available for auction 30 days before the scheduled transit date. This pilot program aims to facilitate the movement of ships that use energy-efficient technologies and/or alternative fuels, thereby helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promoting sustainable practices within the maritime industry. This in alignment with the Canal’s commitment to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. In March this year, the Panama Canal revealed its investment program, investing $8.5 billion in modernization and green technology until 2030. It includes $2B. dedicated to new Initiatives focused on sustainability, $1B. for Digital Transformation and waterborne decarbonization and $3.5B. for infrastructure and equipment such as electric vehicles and hybrid tugboats. The standards for green vessels are laid out in the Advisory to Shipping A-12-2023 of 20 March 2023 (included in link below). Further information regarding this initiative will be provided in an upcoming Advisory to Shipping. 🌍 Ever heard of mottainai もったいない, the Japanese art of minimizing waste? 🌱 This profound concept is deeply rooted in Japanese culture, emphasizing the importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling. Whether it's reusing sink water or the exquisite art of kintsugi—repairing pottery with gold—Japan has truly mastered the philosophy of making the most out of every resource (see picture below). 💫 And now, we're thrilled to bring the spirit of mottainai to the Utrecht region! 🚀 By supporting international companies that are pioneers in circularity, we're helping them establish and expand their operations here, right in the heart of the Netherlands. Utrecht is rapidly becoming a hub for sustainability, innovation, and the circular economy. ♻️ Take URW Europa B.V., for example—an innovative company that’s breathing new life into old car parts, turning what was once considered waste into valuable resources. 🚗♻️ These forward-thinking initiatives are exactly what make Utrecht a leading player in the mottainai movement across Europe! In Earth Valley, we’re committed to building a future where waste is a thing of the past, and every resource is treasured and reused. Let's work together to create a world where sustainability is not just a goal, but a way of life. ✨ Join us in making Utrecht the mottainai capital of Europe! 💚 #mottainai #circulareconomy #UtrechtRegion #sustainability #innovation marie kondo | Anna Elferink | Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency

🌍✨ We are thrilled to announce that Global Green Europe will be part of PRS 2024 edition in Amsterdam! ✨🌍 We at Global Green Europe are proud to participate as exhibitors at one of the most important events in the plastics recycling sector in 2024: PRS (Plastic Recycling Show) in Amsterdam. 📆 Date: 19 and 20 June 📍 Location: Hall 9 - stand 130 The last time we took part in a trade fair was in 2019 in Suzhou, China. Since then, we have been waiting for the perfect occasion to connect with the industry on a large scale again. Having a budget for trade fairs in 2024 of over 25,000 €, we chose the increasingly popular PRS Amsterdam to introduce our plastics inside a more-than-20-m2 stand. Three of our four salespeople will be available to strengthen relations with vendors and clients. 🌱 What can you expect at our stand? - High-value plastics aimed at recycling in the automotive sector. - Plastic for consumer use in India and Southeast Asia. - A chance to interact with our experts and discuss how we can help your company to reach your annual output objectives. - Information about our growth projects. PRS has gained the recognition as a crucial event in plastics recycling, and many of its halls are aimed at this topic. After attending PRSE in 2023, we realised this was a unique chance to introduce our products to the automotive sector in the north and centre of Europe, a region where we expect to have a more continuous presence. 🔗 Visit us at our stand at PRS Amsterdam and find out how we can make progress together and reach a more sustainable future. 💬 Would you like to contact us before the event? We would love to see you there! If you are interested in setting a meeting with our team, do not hesitate to contact us: - For central Europe and Asia markets: comercial@globalgreneurope.com (sales manager) - For the French market and any queries on Portuguese: france@globalgreeneurope.com - For long-term strategies and sector challenges: luis@globalgreeneurope.com (CEO) #GlobalGreenEurope #PRSAmsterdam #PlasticsRecycling #Sustainability #Innovation

Caran d’Ache is the only manufacturer in the world that masters the production of its writing and drawing instruments from start to finish at its Geneva workshops. Audacious? Perhaps. Essential? Absolutely! This is both our difference and our strength : all our products have been manufactured in our Geneva facility since 1915, ensuring that each piece embodies the essence of Swiss tradition. This unique approach enables proximity, with 53% of our suppliers in Switzerland and 25% in Europe. In this way, we are affirming our commitment to the local economy and significantly reducing our carbon footprint. This approach may sound a bit crazy in the age of globalization… And that's precisely what makes me proud, as it does our employees! We have an economic and cultural foothold that matches our ambitions. For instance, in an upcycling initiative, we have created special editions of pens from recycled capsules, incorporating graphite leads made from coffee grounds. Culturally, our commitment is reflected in our support for institutions such as the HEAD award aimed at supporting young local talents, or the Public Establishments for Integration (EPI), which allows us to welcome about a dozen employees with disabilities or in professional reintegration. This strong connection with the local community is part of our DNA. And the planned move of our factory to Bernex underlines our desire to continue innovating while staying true to our Geneva roots. It not only allows us to maintain the craftsmanship passed down through generations, it also strengthens our competitiveness in the global market. That's the true spirit of #SwissMade.
