The Largest Vessel in the World! 🚢🌊🌎 Meet the Seawise Giant, also known as the Knock Nevis, the biggest vessel ever built! 🤯 This massive ship measured 458 meters (1,503 feet) in length and 69 meters (226 feet) in width, with a draft of 29 meters (95 feet). 🌊 The Seawise Giant was originally built as a supertanker for transporting oil, but it was later converted into a floating storage and offloading unit. 💡 With a capacity to carry 4.1 million barrels of oil, this vessel showcases the incredible engineering and innovation that goes into building massive ships! 💪🏻 Unfortunately, the Seawise Giant was scrapped in 2010, but its legacy lives on as a testament to human ingenuity and the maritime industry's capabilities! 🙏🏻 #LargestVessel #SeawiseGiant #KnockNevis #MaritimeIndustry #Innovation #EngineeringExcellence #SupplyChain

“Danish firm to supply #methanol -based #generatorsystems for Svitzer’s new #tug ” October 9, 2024, - Fatima Bahtić “Danish company Nordhavn Power Solutions has been contracted to supply two #methanolbasedgeneratorsystems for a larger hybrid solution on Svitzer’s new #tugboat .” “As disclosed, Svitzer’s new tugboat will operate with a #hybridsolution . #Batteries are combined with a #methanolgeneratorsystem , which is expected to emit #zeroemissions under certain operating conditions. The solution also ensures that the #boat can remain in operation even on longer missions, where the #batterycapacity is insufficient.” “The new tugboat, which is being built at Turkish #shipyard Uzmar Shipyards, is scheduled for delivery in the first half of 2026.” https://lnkd.in/eDiH7jEV? 𝗠𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗧𝗔 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: 𝗔 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗔𝗺𝗶𝗱𝘀𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 ⬇ Last month, #Multraship joined our peers at the European Tugowners Association (ETA) for its 61st Annual General Meeting in #Helsingør, #Denmark. 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗼𝘄𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘀 Multraship’s Eline Muller and Willem Spijker connected with over 140 members of the European #towage community to discuss the industry's future and today's critical challenges, especially regarding emissions. 𝗡𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗨𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘆 This year's ETA Conference shed light on the EU Emissions Trading System (#ETS) and the Monitor, Reporting and Verification (#MRV) regulations. These regulations are pivotal for the #maritime sector's #decarbonisation goals and for service providers like #Multraship to understand our role in fostering a sustainable industry without compromising operational efficiency. However, the MRV regulations set to be enforced from 1st January 2025 may impose a significant administrative and financial burden on tug- and workboat owners and operators. The ambiguity surrounding the definition of 'offshore vessel' and which vessels from 400 GT will need to comply adds to the challenge of preparing for proper implementation and budgeting. 𝗡𝗼 ‘𝗢𝗻𝗲-𝗦𝗶𝘇𝗲-𝗙𝗶𝘁𝘀-𝗔𝗹𝗹 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻’ There is no 'one-size-fits-all' alternative fuel solution for our industry yet, particularly for tugs, workboats and salvage craft that operate both offshore and in port(s). Issues such as the availability of alternative fuels and storage/tank capacity are examples of the challenges we face. 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗗𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗧𝗼𝘄𝗮𝗴𝗲 Despite these challenges, Multraship is dedicated to sustainable operations while ensuring we can respond to any incident. Our presence at events like the ETA Conference keeps us informed and proactive regarding #emissions #regulations affecting our industry.

In the latest move towards future-fuelled engines, Svitzer has signed an MoU with MAN to develop a methanol version of the MAN 175DF-M engine for one of Svitzer’s new-build tugs. Svitzer and MAN Energy Solutions have worked together for a while, and last year Svitzer selected a MAN 175D engine for a Transverse vessel. “At Svitzer, we’ve set ambitious yet realistic, long-term targets to decarbonize our operations,” said Svitzer , chief operating officer Kasper Karlsen. “In 2023 alone, we reduced the CO2 intensity of our global fleet by 24% and we’re committed to making further progress through the use of low-carbon fuels like methanol, innovative engine technologies, and continuous changes of behaviour. The MoU signed with MAN represents an exciting opportunity to jointly secure valuable field experience focusing on the use of dual-fuel methanol engines within our fleet.” Read more on Maritime Journal; https://lnkd.in/ddUuQ2Dd
