"Why is it so hard to make healthy streets happen" This is an interesting point. Maybe we focus mainly on our house as our castle, rather than its relationship with the community to which it is anchored. As we adapt our living patterns, which may remove some things we now take for granted what does the future bring? Rural life brings nature and space, urban nature is paved over. Could all this space be used for the community and where does this sit with our need to transport people and things. Urban centres are connected with public transport and services, which is not so in Rural communities. Interesting read! Lack of connection is a major issue across modern multi-residential builds. If we have to proceed with these devlopments, designing with country and communal-minded principles like these at the forefront could create safer, healthier and more successful outcomes, and better yet make them directly accessible to first nations people as stakeholders or occupants.
