We’re pretty sure TPG’s Kris Penney hit all five of these during this world-record-setting skydive. Here’s what happened, in his own words: “On June 15, 2024, a group of 64 jumpers pushed boundaries to set the new 4-Point 64-Way Vertical Sequential World Record. The group consisted of 64 of the best freeflyers from around the world. There were nine countries represented during this skydive in Lake Elsinore, CA. The team of 64 skydivers plus two cameramen exited from three separate airplanes (two Twin Otters and a Skyvan) at 20,000 feet above sea level. With approximately 50 seconds of freefall and working time, the team built the first point and successfully completed the engineered four-point sequential formation. Despite the difficulties and challenges, it was one of the smoothest large formations skydives I have been a part of. The group was totally in sync, locked in, and smooth while burning a hole through the sky together at speeds over 200mph. It’s surreal when everything clicks; so much can happen to bust the jump and create chaos; however, this team was dialed and the flying was incredible.” Kris, your co-workers at TPG are proud of and awed by you and your teammates. A series of different kinds of numbered point-to-point routes exist that planes enter and exit via known waypoints. These points are not related to anything on the ground, but rather are just named points of latitude and longitude that are published in maps that can be used to lay out a journey. These points are given five letter names, and are meant to be understood when spoken over noisy radio transmissions.
