Specificity is your friend. 🎯 In 1994, Michael Santos, a psychologist at the University of California, conducted a study of asking people for donations. Some of the researchers asked for round amounts like $1.00. Others asked for precise amounts like $0.11 or $0.87. The results? The people who asked for more specific amounts received SIXTY PERCENT more donations. 60%! Here is how you can apply specificity into your fundraising appeals before Giving Tuesday ⬇️. ❌ You have the power to feed thousands of school-aged children ✅ You have the power to feed 2,189 school-aged children ❌ Your gift of $100 will support our program ✅ Your gift of $137 will provide a month's worth of meal delivery for a family of 4 Ditch the generics and go with as much specificity as you can this end-of-year campaign season.

Lovelight Solutions is thrilled to team up with Let There Be Light International to provide life changing solar lanterns to 1,000 families. It's amazing how much impact a $15 lantern can provide to a family living without access to electricity. Currently, families in off-grid communities in Uganda spend on average 30% of their income on light! Mostly in the form of kerosene which is unhealthy to breathe. We've been working with this fantastic org over the past 4 years as part of our commitment to donate 1% of our revenues to bring light to those that do not have access to electricity. The org is run by an amazing founder/executive director who takes no salary - maximizing the impact of donations. Your donation will fund a solar lantern for mothers that come to deliver a baby in a community health clinic (Lovelight Solutions is proud to have brought solar power to 6 of them). Most families deliver w/in the home which leads to high infant mortality. Getting mothers to clinics where there is a lit environment saves lives. This program is also amazing for women's empowerment. Typically, everything of value is owned by the male.. now a mom comes home with a solar lantern that is extremely valuable and revolutionary for the family. With Giving Tuesday only 3 weeks away, it's time to have a look at it again. - Which story will you share this year? - When was the last time you updated the visuals to reflect your current activities/focus? - Maybe it's time to revise the suggested/preferred amounts? Do they still make sense and reflect the types of work you're currently doing? Do you have examples of what each amount represents for your non-profit? (Pro Tip - I recommend having the highest suggested amount first and then the lower one below) If you're using Donorbox, my recommended platform, you're covered on the tech side but you still need to make sure your donors are getting the information they need to make an advised decision.
