What is company culture? A lot of companies try to make it all about people hanging out in the company office playing ping pong or Guitar Hero. We don't and here's why: 1. We love the fact that our team is "tight" and loves spending time with each other. We do attend pub quizzes, we do have team buildings, we comment on football matches, we solve Advent of Code and taunt each other how we suck... But we don't want to pressure anyone into having to do that. 2. We don't want people to hang out in the office. If you want to play ping pong, go for it. But then actually complete the work and go in the park in front of the office and play ping pong! Nothing worse that hearing a Slack notification noise at 9:9 in the 7th set! 3. We don't create company culture by having people play Playstation games. We create it by: - respecting their responsibilities - respecting their knowledge - respecting their time - respecting their private life When all these are in place, then the team actually ends up loving spending time together and ping-pong tables aren't needed. #softwaredevelopment #companyculture

For some time now, I wanted to share a fun tradition our team has embraced to kick off Fridays with laughter and good vibes. We dedicate some time to play quick games that boost our mood and bring us closer. Trying to figure out who the imposter is while accusing each other is hilarious. 🖌 Gartic Phone: My personal favorite! We draw and guess each other's drawings, leading to nonstop laughs. 😁 We've tried many games, but these are the best. I highly recommend trying them with your team for some Friday or even Monday fun! I have never been a big fan, not unless your are going with people you have a laugh with and are friends rather than colleagues. Not unless you are starting a 4 day working week, lets keep them to work hours only if you want people to get the most out of them. Also, lets make them food based rather than wasting your life in an escape room, for many a work environment can be a 40 hour escape room (Yes I am grumpy this morning) You know what to do... print off several copies using work resources and go to the stationary cupboard and get the fancy pens dedicated to giveaways at expos use and get yourself through the day.
