It was a pleasure attending the reception hosted by Belgian Consul General Sophie Hottat, welcoming Belgium’s delegates during the inaugural LA Climate Solutions Week. 🌎💼 The week marks a significant step forward in uniting thought leaders, change-makers, policymakers and stakeholders in our community to tackle climate change with practical solutions. Together, we can build a more sustainable future. 🌱 A big shoutout also goes to Hubert Goffinet and Celine McA’Nulty at Wallonia Export and Investment Agency for this facilitation! Mother Earth has nurtured us for so long, and now it’s time for us to attune to her rhythm, working to keep her veins flow and heartbeat strong and vibrant! As I reflect on this powerful week, I found myself asking: What can we do as individuals to make a difference? One actionable way is to reduce food waste, which accounts for 8-10% of global greenhouse gas emissions—if food waste were a country, it would rank 3rd in the world (UN). 🌱 But there’s hope! Japan, through a holistic approach, has reduced food waste by 31% since 2000. Policy played a big role, with businesses required to measure their waste since 2001, allowing them to understand the impact and take meaningful action. This mindset of conservation and efficiency has made a significant difference—something we can all learn from. Together, through our collective care and conscious choices, we can ensure that Mother Earth’s life-giving pulse continues to thrive into our future generations. 🌿💚 #LAClimateWeek #ClimateSolutions #SustainabilityInAction #HeartOfTheEarth #ReduceFoodWaste

I had the privilege of attending New York Climate Week 🌍 where I engaged in thought-provoking discussions on two critical topics that I don't work with on a day-to-day basis: 1. Mobilizing Capital for the Green Transition in Emerging and Developing Markets ⚡ 2. Driving Change at Global Scale: Industry’s Role in Fostering Regenerative Practices in Agriculture 🌾 These sessions underscored to me, the interconnection between a just energy transition and the imperative of evolving a sustainable food security. As emerging markets strive for a greener future, the mobilization of capital becomes essential to fuel renewable energy projects that not only reduce emissions but also empower local communities. Simultaneously, the role of industry in promoting regenerative agricultural practices cannot be overstated. By adopting methods that restore soil health and enhance biodiversity, we can create a more resilient food system that meets the nutritional needs of a growing global population. The synergy between clean energy and sustainable agriculture is clear: advancing one accelerates progress in the other. A holistic approach ensures that environmental sustainability goes hand-in-hand with economic development and food security. My key takeaway was that to achieve meaningful change at a global scale, cross-sector collaboration between the private sector and public sector is vital. By aligning financial incentives with sustainable initiatives in both energy and agriculture, we can foster a regenerative and more equitable future. Thank you Helle Meinertz and all the people at Denmark In New York for two great events. If you want to take action today in Denmark, I suggest to go and support https://lnkd.in/dviPG8nt - you will be able to engage and educate yourself on how to build a more sustainable food system with local community engagement. #ClimateWeekNYC #Sustainability #EnergyTransition #FoodSecurity #RegenerativeAgriculture

🦋 🌳 What are Nature-Based Solutions? 🌱🌸 This month, our Blog: https://shorturl.at/KY4lJ is all about Nature-based solutions - how Seeds To Thrive is working with businesses to find ways to work with nature for their sustainability strategies in business. 📌 Nature-based solutions refer to strategic actions that harness the power and processes of natural ecosystems to address various environmental, social, and economic challenges. ▶ The food industry is well aware of how fast the world is changing. Food industry businesses understand that they must make steps towards sustainability and offset any environmental impact. 📌 Nature-based solutions work synergistically with the economy, ecosystems and society. They involve the sustainable management and use of nature in ways that create benefits for the planet, and therefore the well-being of people. 📌 They aim to contribute to biodiversity resilience, reduce risks from environmental hazards, and support sustainable economic development while helping businesses to mitigate and adapt to climate change. By enhancing the planet's biodiversity, it is possible to harness the power of nature so that it begins to work for us once more. 🦋🌳🌻🦉🐞 If you are looking at ways to reduce your company's carbon footprint & to build a better future for our planet, Seeds To Thrive is waiting to hear from you. Just landed back in Copenhagen, but still buzzing from an incredible week at New York Climate Week! 🌍 🌱 The energy in the Big Apple was electric, with so many brilliant minds coming together to tackle some of the most pressing climate challenges of our time. I had the privilege of engaging in conversations with global leaders, innovators, and changemakers — all committed to driving meaningful, nature-positive solutions. At Slow, we’re pushing forward our mission to transform degraded landscapes into thriving ecosystems, showing the world that sustainable coffee and chocolate production is not just possible but essential. A big takeaway? Climate action is no longer just about reducing carbon — it's about restoring biodiversity, improving livelihoods, and rebuilding ecosystems. Our work in Southeast Asia is proof that regenerative agriculture can play a pivotal role in this. 🌳 🍫 ☕ Thanks to everyone who made the week so impactful. I’m excited to bring the insights, connections, and renewed determination back to Slow as we continue driving change in the global food system. #ClimateWeekNYC #Sustainability #RegenerativeAgriculture #NaturePositive #NYCW Baemnet Aschenaki, Arthur Karuletwa, Alexander Stig Paciorek Nielsen, Jose M., Guido Schmidt-Traub, Erik Bruun Bindslev, Nishant Roy, Fleming Voetmann, Thomas Bomhoff, Lise Christiansen Walbom, Hanne Sondergaard, Hugh Bromley, Paul Benjamin, Iver Høj Nielsen, Jessica A., Lasse B.

Join us tomorrow at ReThink HK Keynote Theatre to explore the concept of a sustainable blue economy, with WWF-Hong Kong as the content partner. Hong Kong boasts 25% of China's marine biodiversity, yet less than 5% of our ocean is designated as marine protected area. Overfishing, pollution, and climate change are pushing our marine ecosystems to the brink. It's time for a paradigm shift to a sustainable blue economy - one that leverages our abundant resources for long-term, profitable investments while safeguarding the health of our ocean. At the discussion, we will delve into the principles of sustainable blue economy, financial models that align business strategies with environmental sustainability, and the multidisciplinary approach that prioritizes sustainability, equity, and the well-being of our ocean. Let’s move beyond extractions and unlock the potential of a healthy, thriving ocean. #oceanconservation #sustainableblueeconomy

🌍 THE PLANET IS CRYING OUT FOR HELP. ARE YOU LISTENING? 🌱 In this impactful video by Steve Cutts, we are confronted with a painful reality: the world we destroyed with greed and disregard is now a cruel reflection of our choices. Animals are in charge, while we, reduced to mere “pets”, reap the consequences of unsustainable and destructive growth. Every piece of plastic thrown, every tree cut down and every uncontrolled emission brings us closer to a point of no return. Are we really aware of the impact we are having? Or are we blinded by the comfort of a false normality? At Braeco, we believe there is still time to act. We are creating innovative solutions to clean the air we breathe, contributing to healthier cities and a more sustainable planet. ARE YOU READY TO BE PART OF THIS CHANGE? 🌳♻️ 👉 Watch the video. Reflect. Repost it. Let's build a sustainable future together. Braeco - The future starts now. Video credit: Steve Cutts Thanks to Rob Cooper and Dan Sherrard-Smith for bringing this to my attention.
