📢 All founders in my network: Putting out a feeler to see if this is something other founders would want. Please like or comment if you're interested and want me to reach out to share more. I'm brainstorming a straight to-the-point, actionable product / startup playbook with things I wished I learned when starting and operating my company. Topics I'm considering: - Funding sources - Finding market validation - Sizing your market - Technology - hiring a CTO or founding software engineer - Building Product & analytics stack (data) - Team & Hiring - Marketing - inbound & outbound activities The idea is to skip the fluff and provide enough background information necessary to get started, as well as a guide on how to get started. It will include specific products, tools, strategies, documents, and templates for items like setting up key metrics for product Would love any feedback or thoughts!

Tech hiring isn’t dead—it’s sober. The frenzy has cooled, the FOMO-driven hires have slowed, and we’re left with a more mature industry. The strongest tech talent will still have opportunities, but they’ll have to adapt. Specialization is key, and so is the ability to demonstrate real value, not just potential. If you’re looking for a tech job, the game has changed. Stop chasing the ghost of Silicon Valley 2015 and start thinking about how you can offer real impact in 2024 and beyond. Dead? No. Reborn? Absolutely. #techhiring #technology #recruiting #hiring

Excited to announce our $50M Series B and the launch of our Team Plan! It’s been an incredible year at you.com. As the real world use of AI evolves, one thing has become crystal clear: the world has never had more to do and with less time to do it. And by applying AI’s novel capabilities, we’re able to help the world get more productive work done, one user at a time. From helping biology researchers “revolutionize how they navigate the vast ocean of sequencing data” or helping clinicians streamline their administrative work so they can focus their time on daily “life or death” decisions, to helping school administrators “optimize key aspects of faculty work” so they can “focus on … their students” – you.com is helping individuals and teams become more productive, saving precious time to focus on what counts. This is still just the beginning. We’re so thankful to our users and investors (Georgian, NVIDIA, Salesforce Ventures, SBVA, DuckDuckGo, Day One Ventures, and many more). We plan to use this additional funding to help many more users become more productive in their everyday work. Stay tuned for what's ahead… it's going to be a lot of fun! P.S. it is wild that You.com finally raised a $50M series B, and one of the more interesting stories and analysis of AI search. even though it was started 2 years before Perplexity.ai, and they effectively have the same product - Perplexity was able to raise $74M 8 months ago, and is in talks to raise at $2.5B valuation. That has been reported for 5 months now, of Perplexity's intended raise. But maybe investors are skittish at the explosion growth. These generative search apps hardly feel sticky. Their usefulness is even pretty debatable, so often when using You.com or Perplexity general search, it links to generic "lowest common denominator" sources like Statista and generic market research and articles. The suspicion that perplexity is very faddish, it doesn't really solve any of the products that plague Google search, of finding quality info in the Deluge of Data. Meanwhile, Perplexity was able to get a zeitgeist on margin, from having more interesting brand name (horrible "You.com"), marginally improved UX, darker color tones, and a founder Aravind Srinivas who embraced e/acc . Certainly haven't seen any real analysis to indicate that Perplexity is a better search product than You.com, and they really feel so identical as products. it's not to say that they both can't survive and be solid standalone companies, progressing more towards enterprise search combining internet+internal content. it seems likely that salesforce will try to buy you.com. Apple would want to acquire Perplexity, but that will be close to impossible with Google's antitrust case. Meanwhile, neither of these really solve the Deluge of Data problem, at all. it seems increasingly evident that LLMs are too immeasurable, and non-granular enough for a needle-moving search engine. Not searching for knowledge but analysis and searching for insights, it is a subtle and significant difference, of reading vs. extracting "Needle in the haystack" actionable types of context and inferencing a context too. This is of course what we're solving with Rashi, a calibrated and bespoke insights algorithm on curated content comes into play, which is in development of coming to life with sophisticated and pretty wild capabilities of information.

I think the ideal startup team structure is: 1 Product team: - 1 PM, 4-6 Engineers, 1 designer (n) number of Pods that map to a use-case/industry Each pod is made up of an AE, Product Marketer and a Growth Engineer. Product team builds core platform and Pods drive growth + sales Thoughts?

Hiring post day (2/n): The Wizard of Oz. Our #1 value at SellScale is the WoZ, inspired by the Baum novel. In it, the characters meet a giant head that appears to be a powerful wizard, only to learn it’s an ordinary man pulling levers behind a screen! The lesson sticks - before we automate, do things manually to understand tech from first principles. For example, when we first started SellScale, the "AI" was Aakash and Ishan manually writing messages into an Excel (customers loved it!). This gave us great insight on how to train LLMs to write great messages. Today, you can automate practically anything a human can do. It makes WoZ an important principle to ensure the customer experience is not lost. If you're ready to pull some levers, check out our careers page. We're hiring two founding engineers. Let's make some magic happen. 🪄
