As expected, the Federal Budget 2024 did not include any changes to cannabis excise rates. This is unsurprising, despite recent recommendations for such changes by the federal House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance and years of industry lobbying, given the complexities of the issue. #cannabis #cannabisindustry #cannabisnews #excisetax #federalbudget https://lnkd.in/gSg7ScZc

Still no changes to excise. Don't be surprised.

Those who were a part of Cannabis history didn’t have any leverage with the govt when legalization happened, I think we were mostly blindsided. We didn’t believe it was going to happen for so many years but they played us by asking an opinion survey and we replied en masse. They took that info to their advantage and put rules in place and implemented it. Who agreed to capping edibles at 10mg? Or the plant count? Or the pricing breakdown? I could go on and on… covering up all the dispo windows, licensing fees with no ceiling, no lounges, no protection for those who rent and aren’t allowed to consume in their homes, all the dumb packaging rules put in place for the sole purpose of profit. A kindergarten child can operate a pair of scissors but when they told us the packaging was to protect children… we just accepted that and took it. Do you think anyone is pulling open a double zipped bag of gummies?🤣The only thing that makes it acceptable to me is giving access to those who didn’t know where or how to get it before. It’s easy to get access as a teen who is out partying and interacting with tons of other teens who are seeking and finding weed, not so much for grandpa in a nursing home.
