🔧Navigating Repair Systems🔧 Ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes to keep equipment and systems running smoothly? Let me share a bit about my experience in handling repair systems, where precision, coordination, and dedication come together. 🛠️ Collecting Items for Repair: It all begins with identifying and meeting up with end users to collect items that need repair. Attention to detail is crucial here – I ensure every item is accounted for, documented, and ready for the next steps. 📡 Communication: Effective communication is key in this role. I coordinate with the RF controller at the client's warehouse, making sure all details are clear and everything is on track and that the product are signed out. It’s all about clear exchanges to avoid any hiccups. 🚚 Coordinating Deliveries: Next, I work with our head office and transport department to ensure the items are transported safely and punctually. After it reaches the head office, the products will be sent to the client engineering partners. Timing and teamwork are essential to keep everything running smoothly. 📋 Writing the Scope of Work: Creating a detailed scope of work is like drafting a blueprint for the repair process. I outline every step to ensure clarity, guiding the team through each stage of the repair. 🔍 Quality Control Plan: Quality is a top priority. I compile the Quality Control Plan (QCP) and collaborate with end users and client engineering to ensure everyone is aligned with the standards. 👀 Witnessing the End Products: The final step is overseeing the end products to ensure they meet our stringent quality standards. It’s the culmination of all our efforts, ensuring we deliver only the best to our clients. This is done by myself and the end user, who will meet and test the products together, to ensure that everything is according to their expectations. Handling repair systems involves careful planning, effective communication, and a commitment to quality. Every step, from collecting items to final checks, is crucial in delivering top-notch results. Let’s continue to strive for excellence and ensure every project is a success! 🚀 #RepairSystems #ProjectManagement #QualityControl #Teamwork #ContinuousImprovement #Operations

Key Terms in Engineering Maintenance Jargons are not new to professionals, as these are technical terms used in communicating clearly within a particular field. I'll be giving a brief definition of some key terms used in engineering. I hope this helps newcomers. 📍 Availability : It refers to the proportion of time that an equipment is capable of performing it's intended function under stated conditions for a given period of time. 📍 Reliability : It is the probability that an equipment will perform it's intended function without failure under stated conditions for a specific period of time. 📍CMMS : It stands for computerized maintenance management system, a software that tracks and records all maintenance activities ranging from asset history, work orders , PM program etc. It is sometimes integrated with inventory management and finance system. 📍Downtime: This is the period where an equipment is not capable to perform it's intended function under stated conditions. 📍MTTR: It stands for mean time to repair, which literally means the average time taken to repair an equipment and restore it to operation after it has failed 📍OBM: Operator based maintenance is also known as autonomous maintenance. It refers to a maintenance approach where an operator is trained to perform basic maintenance activity on equipment. Activities may include checking of coolant and oil level, cracks, and identifying offensive odour etc. 📍PM: Preventive maintenance is a strategy associated with adjustment, inspection and replacement of components, items or supplies to ensure the equipment keeps performing it's intended function. 📍CBM: This refers to condition based maintenance, otherwise called predictive maintenance. It is a technique that employs predictive tools, sensors and monitoring equipment to assess the condition of a machine over a period of time 📍 CM: Corrective maintenance is a maintenance program implemented on an equipment to rescue potential failures or to restore it back to operation after it has failed. 📍RTF: Run to Failure maintenance is adopted on parts or components of an equipment, in which the cost of replacement is lower compared to regular maintenance cost. 📍Failure rate : It refers to the frequency of failures on an equipment or asset over a period of time. Low failure rate indicate better Reliability. 📍Reactive maintenance: it is a maintenance culture that allows asset to breakdown before effecting repairs. Let's hear more in the comment section 👇 #Maintenance #Engineering #Reliability #Engineeringterms

Things to consider when engaging with an Integrated Logistic Support (ILS)/Supportability Engineering (SE) supplier: Tuesday Teaser #1 Are you aligning with the right partner for your project's success? It's crucial to assess what type of operation your potential partners specialise in. While some excel in niche areas like technical documentation or obsolescence management, it's essential to consider the holistic approach of ILS/SE. Partnering with a comprehensive solution provider offers numerous benefits. By incorporating every element of ILS/SE under one roof, from initial Supportability Analysis to Training, you streamline communication, reduce management burden, and mitigate potential HR complexities. This integrated approach ensures seamless coordination throughout your project lifecycle. When evaluating potential partners, delve beyond surface capabilities. Large organisations may appear proficient in various areas, but deeper exploration often reveals fragmented internal structures. Ensure your partner possesses direct expertise and easy access to relevant resources across the organisation. Don't hesitate to seek specifics to ensure alignment with your project's unique needs and goals. Choose wisely for a smoother, more efficient project execution. #tuesdayteaser #supportabilityengineering #collaboration #projectsuccess

Delaying a decision on a project is actually making a decision... Right now your decision is, "No." You may elect to revisit that decision in the future, and change it to a "Yes," which is done frequently, but there is a disconnect with delaying a decision, is actually a decision. When you delay a yes, you are stating "No, not right now." That "No" has implications: Delayed process improvements, delayed ROI, delayed project benefits. Acknowledging a delayed decision as a "No" will help to frame the total project risks and consequences of that decision. Right now, we are seeing many delayed "Yes's" for projects with GREAT ROI, and it just means that the company is losing the described project benefits until the project is executed. Side note: If everyone is waiting until 2025 to execute a project, I recommend being first in line, otherwise, the delayed "Yes" will be on the supplier's/vendor's side with extended lead times. If you need help scoping, planning, engineering or executing projects before the 2025 rush, we at Turner Process Solutions are here to help. The 2025 labor shortage! My friend David Turner is 100% right. If you have key projects and deliveries due in Q2 or Q3 of 2025, you need to start YESTERDAY. Teams everywhere are running lean which means there aren't people sitting idle waiting for the next projects to pop up. The reality is that in Q1 everyone will try to get started, a lot of promises will be made, and then contracts go out. Then what happens? The teams fulfilling contracts reach out to staffing teams internal and external, and those teams start pulling people in from the market for interviews, then negotiations, then onboarding. So it's Q2 before staffing happens, then requirements are gathered and in mid-late Q2 work begins, then you HOPE they deliver by the middle of Q4 or vacations happen and you missed your delivery. Start NOW, get those projects committed and contracted, let's take your target date and do a regression plan. Let's take into account ALL of the operations, people, and processes involved. Let's look at your technologies and make sure you will have access to the right resources at the right times, that any software acquisitions take place before project work begins. If you want to #succeed at your #2025 #projects, then start NOW. #ai #datamanagement

Embarking on a new automation project is exciting but challenging. There are a lot of moving parts to manage. In my daily work, I often converse with automation or design engineers who need urgent assistance (usually with a tight deadline). My work specializes in compressed air blowing applications, using engineered nozzles for cooling, drying, cleaning, sorting, or ejecting parts. However, I have been doing this long enough (you have to look at my page to see exactly how long), I end up advising on project management, component integration, and more. Here are five challenges I see most. As a bonus, I will include a personal tip and one that Silvent can help with: Component Selection and Procurement Challenge: Choosing the right components and ensuring timely delivery. Tip: Collaborate with reliable, knowledgeable suppliers and create a detailed procurement plan. Silvent Help: Silvent has unique knowledge of compressed air blowing and offers high-quality air nozzles and air knives, ensuring tailored components and fast delivery. Silvent Help: Silvent’s air nozzles are designed for easy integration, providing reliable performance across applications. Project Management and Coordination Challenge: Coordinating multiple teams, competing objectives and managing timelines effectively. Tip: Use project management tools to streamline communication and conduct regular progress reviews. Communication is key. Silvent Help: Silvent’s engineering team offers guidance and resources to keep your project on schedule. Ensuring Compliance and Standards Challenge: Adhering to industry standards and compliance requirements. Tip: Stay updated on standards and involve compliance experts from the start. Silvent Help: Silvent products meet high industry standards, including OSHA, ensuring regulatory compliance. Testing and Validation Challenge: Thoroughly testing and validating the system. Tip: Implement a comprehensive testing strategy, including stress testing for peak conditions. Silvent Help: Silvent nozzles are rigorously tested and used successfully in various applications, meeting specific material needs like chemical resistance and non-scratching. Overcoming these challenges requires detailed planning, effective communication, and a proactive approach. While I can't speak for all, we've seen many successful builds from large OEMs worldwide. Here is a reference link to see common applications: https://lnkd.in/gYGBqA9v Happy to be a point of reference! #automation #management #engineering #innovation #manufacturing
