It's been 6 months here in Mumbai and here's what I've learned: 1) Work is your soulmate This city has shown me the incredible dedication people have towards their work. From 20-year-old interns to established 50-year-old businessmen, everyone is working so damn hard. 2) People make you believe in your dreams Meeting the founders, business owners, and industry experts here has been eye-opening. They've made me realize that achieving great things is just about showing up every single day. 3) The way the city is built humbles you I'm in constant awe of how the city is built. On days when you feel accomplished, this city makes you appreciate the efforts of countless others before you. 4) You get used to a routine life I have always desired a routine and organized schedule in my life. Moving to Mumbai naturally instilled that in me and made me realize how much more you can do if you're organized. 5) Two sides of the city I initially thought Mumbai was all about concentrated wealth and luxury. However, experiencing local trains and seeing people sleeping on roads gave me a profound perspective. 6) It's easy to get carried away Along with all the good things, this city can easily distract you from your goals. The distractions are immense, and you must make a conscious effort every day to stay focused on why you came here. Excited to see what comes next! :)

#aboutme My colleagues and friends often ask me why I often wear a pocket square "I’m adding some highlights today." "It's smart casual with a twist." "It matches my outfit." These responses, while accurate, fail to capture the essence of this accessory. When I first entered the private market deals industry, I had the privilege of working with esteemed seniors who became my #mentors and like a “sifu” (master of an apprenticeship in Cantonese). Among them, one individual stands out as a beacon of sartorial elegance and professional acumen—a true gentleman and a respectful Dai lo (大佬). His manner exuded humility, kindness, and harmony and humours. Despite his seniority, he never compromised on professional analytics work. He was highly detailed, attentive, and even built better financial models than me. His attire was always impeccable, characterized by premium silk fabric pocket squares and gleaming polished shoes. His knowledge spanned a vast expanse, from history and wine to global macro , business operations. And when the situation called for it, he could be firm and decisive but guided by the sense of integrity and unwavering faith. To me, the #pocketsquare transcends its functional purpose and becomes a #symbolic reminder to myself of the qualities I aspire to embody—a symphony of elegance, professionalism, and an insatiable thirst for knowledge. While I may still fall short of these ideals, I find solace in the realization that learning is an eternal journey, and each step leaps me forward towards greater excellence. #learning #mentorship #VC #Venturecapital

I am thrilled to share my very first article translated during my internship at Mahkamah Konstitusi Republik Indonesia! Taking on this task was both exhilarating and challenging, as it required a meticulous balance of accuracy and interpretive skill. This milestone has not only been a fantastic learning experience but also a chance to deepen my understanding of legal translation intricacies. I am looking forward to continuing my journey in this field and facing more complex challenges. You can find this article, along with many others I've had the honor to translate, on the MKRI website. #Internship #Translation #LegalTranslation #MahkamahKonstitusi

Design is a process of continual experimentation: learn, unlearn, and improve. Cultivating this mindset is crucial to solving complex challenges of the future, and it starts with the blending of design education and design practice, with each informing the other. Imagine students learning new concepts and theories in school one day, and applying them in a real-world work environment the next – all while still studying full-time. This isn’t your typical short-term internship. Rather it integrates work and studies into one for more immersive learning. Such seamless career pathways would enhance students’ job readiness while also encouraging continued learning even after graduating. Discover how this vision can be realised in the 𝙁𝙪𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝘿𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙜𝙣 𝙎𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙡, as outlined in the upcoming report by the Design Education Advisory Committee. Download your free copy at designsingapore.org from 13 June 2024. – The Design Education Advisory Committee (DEAC) is Singapore’s first-ever national platform for design education thought and practice leadership. It aims to shape the quality of design education in Singapore to develop a global, resilient workforce that can help businesses stay competitive. #DesignSingaporeCouncil #DesignEducation

📝Some Side Notes: 👩🏻💻🧑🏻💻About Participants: There are 30 females and 6 males. Selected through a rigorous process from various schools of Nanjing University, the participants are students from the University’s Bachelor, Master and Doctoral programs in diverse disciplines – International Politics/Relations, Diplomacy, Chinese/Foreign Languages and Literatures, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, History, Journalism and Communications, Sociology, Law, Philosophy, Social Security, Education, Information Management and Information System, Ecology, and Atmospheric Sciences. With highly diversified academic backgrounds, these young people do share some characteristics: they have passion for knowledge of the #UN and other international organizations, are ready to hone global competencies to contribute to SDGs and global peace and development, and are interested in exploring a career path in such setting. 🇺🇳About Speakers: They are all experienced UN professionals working at multiple UN entities, including various departments/offices under the UN Secretariat in New York, UNOG, UNODC, WHO, FAO, etc. It is so nice of them for offering to speak to the students, sharing their expertise and experience while exchanging ideas on a wide range of topics. They certainly set good examples for the students to forge ahead towards their kind ambition. In addition to giving presentations, the other reason drawing these UN personnel to Nanjing, the capital city of eastern China’s Jiangsu province and a vibrant metropolis with enriched history and dynamic economy, was that they were taking the “UN China Study Programme 2024” offered by the UN and Nanjing University Institute for International Students. This is a cultural initiative that celebrates its 20th Anniversary this year advocating for multilingualism within the UN system. It enables the participants to improve their Chinese Language skills and learn more about the Chinese culture and society. 📌More: It is worth to note that the students from the Summer Camp also acted as a language tutor for the UN personnel during their study journey in China. This further tightened the ties between the UN personnel and the University students with more interactions and mutual help. The lasting friendship as a result of this is a testament to the value of cross-cultural communication and international exchanges, and this is what we need to navigate through the ongoing chaos of international politics for an accelerated implementation of the UN #SDGs and a brighter future for the global community with a shared future for all.
🎉I’m excited to share the successful conclusion of the Nanjing University Summer Camp for International Organization Talents 2024, in which I played a major role as an #EventCoordinator, working remotely to reach out to 15 guest speakers from across the #UnitedNations system and finalize a detailed programme of their themed presentations to the Summer Camp participants. During the Camp, I also acted as a focal point to provide updates and information to the #UN professionals. 💡How I Worked: 1️⃣Based on the result of a questionnaire for interest expression and a desk research of the speakers’ backgrounds, I generally figured out four categories, namely HR Management and Administration, Thematic Work, Programme Management, and Communications and Translation, to properly fit the total of 14 presentations in the four days of the Camp. 2️⃣Then, I communicated with the UN speakers one-on-one via email, making suggestions on how they could adjust their proposed topics and contents to enhance presentation effect, informing them of the categories they fall in, proposing specific dates and timeslots, and responding to their requests and queries. 3️⃣The finalized programme of presentations produced by me proved to be an effective one, serving as a positive factor in the general success of the Summer Camp. 📚Gains from the Experience: This experience has strengthened my coordination and communication ability, and is highly associated with my current role as an intern focusing on #EventOrganization and #ProjectManagement at UNIDO’s Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific. I believe the working methods and lessons learned will be conducive to my ongoing engagement in the big events and projects of UNIDO, including the upcoming flagship event #BridgeforCities 2024. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/g4wVbHHK

I attended a seminar held at the Yasuda Auditorium of the University of Tokyo🏫 This iconic building, representing the university, features a Gothic-inspired design that emphasizes verticality. The interior is equally charming and attractive. The seminar’s theme was “Lifelong Learning.” Having recently learned about employee education the day before, I reflected on what individuals should continue learning beyond creating value in workplaces. I’ve personally felt the overwhelming lack of learning opportunities since entering society and have experienced the challenges of learning. Fortunately, there is a growing emphasis on reskilling in national policies, and I hope the environment will continue to improve. Learning involves both receiving and sharing. Exploring new domains can transform a person’s mindset. The attitude of continuous learning requires "determination", not just "motivation" or "enthusiasm". This applies not only to lifelong learning but also to other fields. https://lnkd.in/gA_FmrSE #UTOKYO #JCI #lifelonglearning
