“It felt like a lot of hard work at the time and, to be honest, there were moments of self-doubt, which is why winning the Global ACCA prize still feels surreal for me. Shock turned to joy when I started sharing the news with my family, friends, and colleagues—all of whom I attribute my success to—it was such an unforgettable experience. I chose ACCA because of its curriculum and global recognition, which I thought would help me advance my career while staying current with industry standards. Balancing work in Deals Advisory and my professional studies, I sometimes struggled to find time for anything beyond the two. For a while, all the games, movies, sports and hanging out with friends had to be put on hold. The large volume of new information to absorb and piles of practice papers and mock exams to crunch through did overwhelm me when the exam season was approaching. Thankfully, I had great support from my family, friends and colleagues, on top of the training opportunities provided by the firm. I studied for my ACCA exams through PwC’s Future Finance Professional programme. Learning from ACCA-qualified industry professionals in the firm, the programme helped me organise my time flexibly, access study materials on the go, and stay on track with my learning. Working through past year papers and practice questions allowed me to prepare for my exam better, helping me to familiarise myself with the format and requirements, and it’s something I’d strongly encourage all students do. The sleepless nights and juggling of priorities were all worth it when I received the notification: highest marks for ACCA's Strategic Business Reporting paper, and ACCA's Global Prize Winner! Looking back, I discovered a surprising resilience within myself and learnt the importance of developing good discipline, time management, and critical thinking skills when faced with a challenging task. While I’ve learnt a great deal about myself and had the privilege to do things at my own pace, I would have started my professional studies earlier if I had the chance to do things differently. If you think you can't do it, trust me, you can!✨ I’m so excited to share that I’ve passed the ACCA Audit and Assurance exam! This is my seventh out of the 13 ACCA exams, and I'm thrilled to have cleared it on the first attempt. 🎉 Honestly, I was super nervous at first and doubted myself a lot. 😬 But once I got into the flow of studying and practicing regularly, things started to click. So, for anyone who's feeling the same, I just want to say: you've got this! 💪 Here are a few things that worked for me, and I hope they help you too: 1. Consistency over cramming: I didn’t study for long hours every day, but I made sure to give at least one hour daily. 🕐 Small, regular efforts really do add up. 📈 It’s not about overloading yourself, it’s about being consistent. 2. Practice, practice, practice: The more you practice writing answers and using the ACCA Practice Platform, the more confident you'll get. 📝 It really helped me with time management during the actual exam – no rushing at the end! ⏳ 3. Look after yourself: It sounds simple, but eating well and taking breaks made a big difference in my focus. 🥗 If you’re constantly stressed, it’s hard to absorb anything. 🧠 I also want to give a big thank you to my mentor CA. Nidhi Bhaskar for her incredible guidance, and to my seniors for supporting me and giving me the flexibility I needed to focus on my studies. 🙏 That work-life balance made all the difference. ⚖️ For anyone working through their ACCA exams, keep going! 🚀 It might feel tough, but once you find your rhythm, it all gets easier. 💔 47 marks—just 3 marks shy of passing. I still remember the heartbreak of failing Advanced Audit and Assurance (AAA) for the third time. That gut-wrenching moment made me question if I was truly cut out for this ACCA journey. But here’s the thing about failure—it’s not the end. It’s a pause, a nudge to rethink, re-strategize, and rise stronger. When I felt like giving up, a mentor’s unwavering belief in me was the spark I needed. "You’re just one paper away. Don’t stop now," they said. And deep within, I knew they were right. On my fourth attempt, I finally passed AAA. That experience transformed me. It gave me not just the qualification but also a deeper purpose—to guide and empower others walking this challenging path. Today, I mentor ACCA students and Chartered Accountants to dream bigger, work smarter, and find success despite setbacks. Failure didn’t define my journey—it defined my mission. Had the pleasure of attending #FutureFinance2030 Panel discussion organized by ACCA. The panel acknowledged the accelerating pace of evolution, the need for the learning mindset & collaboration for us to ride the way of the change. It was a pleasure to listen to diverse thoughts of my fellow panelists and share few of my experiences: - 🌉𝑩𝒖𝒊𝒍𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒓𝒊𝒅𝒈𝒆𝒔 (𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒔): Finance has a gigantic role to play in being a bridge between the financial world outside and the organization. The bridge has two way flow: a) "outside in" : benchmarking and building external perspectives into the organization strategy b) "inside out" communicating the strategy to external world while ensuring "transparency" and avoiding unnecessary walls that hinders the flow of information. Like Narayana Murthy said "When in doubt, disclose" - 🎮𝑩𝒖𝒊𝒍𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 '𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒐𝒍 𝒔𝒚𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒎' 𝒂𝒔 𝒂𝒅𝒗𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒅 𝒂𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 '𝑮𝒓𝒐𝒘𝒕𝒉 𝒆𝒏𝒈𝒊𝒏𝒆': Each organization is trying to have a supersonic growth engine that propel it towards its goals. Often people forget that an advanced engine requires an equally advanced 'control system'. Its the role of finance to spearhead this and ensure having a solid control system that gives timely signals and avoid the car (i.e. organization) to bump into a tree or fall into a gorge. - 📚𝑩𝒆𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂 𝒍𝒊𝒇𝒆𝒍𝒐𝒏𝒈 𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒆𝒓: "What was the last newest thing that you learned". In a way, every minute we'll learn something new, but we have to ask ourselves 'is that enough' for me to succeed? In the book "Catalyst" ex CEO of Cadbury Mr. Chandramouli has given amazing insights on achieving long term success and how to convert "time into experience" by leveraging constant reviews & reflection (what he calls TMRR). Fantastic job by ACCA under the leadership of Helen Brand and Md. Sajid Khan to organize such events that act as a melting pot for the industry and academicians to put their heads together.
