Dear African leaders, It’s time to hold those most responsible accountable. As African citizens, we did not cause the climate crisis, yet we are facing its harshest impacts—devastating floods, droughts, and extreme weather. While polluting corporations and countries continue to profit, we are left to bear the consequences. The need for #ClimateJustice and #ClimateAction has never been more urgent. Our future depends on it. #COP29

🇸🇴 "In Somalia and across the Horn of Africa, climate mobility is not a distant concept. It is a daily reality that uproots families, separates communities, and tests the resilience of every individual affected. Droughts, flooding, and unpredictable weather patterns make lands uninhabitable and livelihoods uncertain. Climate mobility has redefined what it means to be home, what it means to belong." Ahmed Farole, Climate Mobility Youth Delegate from Somalia, delivered a powerful address at the inaugural Climate Mobility Youth Day at COP29. 💦Every effort, no matter how small is crucial as climate disasters escalate rapidly changes, UN Executive Secretary Simon Stiell urges. 🌏#COP29 begin soon in Azerbaijan, on November 11. Current climate plans of all countries, even if fully implemented, would cut emissions by just 2.6% from 2019 levels. This minimal reduction poses a severe threat to humanity and global economies. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change stresses the need to cut emissions by 43% by 2030 and 60% by 2035, compared to 2019. #ClimateAction #Sustainability #GlobalWarming #ClimateChange

💧On Yemen’s West Coast, climate change has intensified water scarcity, forcing families like Hassan’s to choose between sending their children to school and fetching water. As #COP29 approaches, we need stronger commitments to #ClimateAction. https://lnkd.in/gEDT6MuP

Really great to see COP29 taking the (huge) global climate risks around water seriously …. We can’t tackle climate change if we don’t address water challenges. And at the heart of it is the simple fact that communities without water can’t possibly be resilient to climate change.
✨ A historic moment for global climate action on water at COP29 Azerbaijan! Dozens of signatories have just committed to prioritising water in their response to climate change, in the COP29 Declaration on Water for Climate Action. 💦 This is really important because most people experience the impacts of climate change by either having too much water through floods, or too little water in times of drought. Now, we need these commitments to turn into action. Our lead climate policy analyst Helen Rumford sets out the three things we'd like to see next 🔽 #COP29 #Water4Climate #ClimateAction
