𝗙𝗜𝗟𝗟 𝗢𝗨𝗧 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗦𝗨𝗥𝗩𝗘𝗬𝗅 For our findings to be truly compelling for world leaders, we must involve people of the Commonwealth from all walks of life. This includes hearing from your colleagues, networks, and the communities you work with. Please consider reaching out to those with relevant experience or expertise in our priority areas: climate justice, health justice, and freedom of expression. Your views will be summarized and presented to Commonwealth Heads of Government when they meet in Samoa later in October. This is an iconic document that details how the United States (All countries ) government can reconcile its longstanding opposition to every (non-federal/State recognized included) indigenous individuals and Tribes. The accountability to get this right, will require everyone. Treaties recognized, lifting the ban on resurrecting extinct indigenous peoples and making sure that resources are allocated to foster platforms for collaboration between indigenous communities that will cultivate positive relationships (no clandestine practices to foster bias toward the any Tribes). True sovereignty (not the appearance of sovereignty) that is afforded any Nation around the world. This is a start to fair and equitable Nation to Nation action.

Today, we gathered for an insightful group discussion centered on Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, exploring how transparency, accountability, and robust institutions can drive meaningful change. Our conversation delved into the role of technology, such as e-governance, to enhance transparency and empower citizens with real-time access to government data. We also examined the importance of independent oversight bodies and the need to strengthen institutions like the judiciary to uphold human rights and the rule of law. By sharing our diverse perspectives, we emphasized the power of community engagement, participatory budgeting, and civil society organizations in fostering accountability and responsive governance. International cooperation and knowledge-sharing through global initiatives like the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were recognized as vital to promoting justice and institutional resilience. Together, we can influence policy, support human rights, and advocate for a more transparent and equitable system. Let’s continue collaborating to drive positive change and build institutions that prioritize openness, justice, and accountability for all. 🔺Voluntary frameworks have failed Indigenous Peoples. The time for binding measures is now. 🇺🇳Read the Indigenous Peoples Opening Declaration at the 13th United Nations Forum on Business and Human Rights 👉 https://lnkd.in/dFg9snbW We demand: 🔶Respect and implementation of Indigenous Peoples’ rights, including UNDRIP and related standards, ensuring FPIC and the right to say no. 🔷Justice and remedy for violations, particularly for defenders facing violence and reprisals. 🔶A genuine Just Transition, ceasing exploitative practices disguised as climate actions and ensuring our rights are respected. 🔷Legally binding measures that hold corporations accountable and include Indigenous voices in all decisions affecting our territories.

❓ What was that thing called democracy we all just experienced? ❓ It’s been one week since we went to the polls in the UK, but is anyone else wondering: was that it? In a time of economic and environmental collapse, 19 million people decided not to vote — the largest majority of the election. England are in the Euros final and there’s been a landslide election result, shouldn’t we all be feeling united and energised? Today, I’m very excited to share Our House. A public imagination project catalysing a citizen-led movement towards political systems change. We're building an alliance and you're all invited. So, if you think that to tackle the crises of our time we need a democratic system that engages everyone to shape and mobilise around the change we need — sign up and let's shape it together:

Announcing the release of the second expanded and updated edition of "A WORLD PARLIAMENT: Governance and Democracy in the 21st Century" by Jo Leinen & Andreas Bummel, from our partners Democracy Without Borders. In a world increasingly challenged by war, poverty, inequality, climate change, and environmental destruction, current national and international institutions often fall short. This book argues for an evolutionary leap forward—a democratic world parliament as the next critical step in global governance. This edition, published last month, delves deeper into the history, contemporary relevance, and practical steps toward implementing this transformative idea. It's a must-read for anyone committed to building a peaceful, just, and sustainable global civilization. Exploring how we can achieve the third democratic transformation and create a brighter future for all. #WorldParliament #GlobalDemocracy #SustainableFuture #NewRelease #GlobalGovernance https://lnkd.in/gs4kSpqt
