In an era where agricultural sustainability is paramount, #soilless_farming (SLF) emerges as a promising alternative to traditional farming methods. Our latest review article explores how #biochar can revolutionize SLF, making it a robust, eco-friendly solution for modern #agriculture and reducing #Greenhouse_Gas emissions. It also emphasizes the importance of having clear guidelines for #commercial_biochar production. Key Insights: 1. SLF Advantage: Higher yields, less water and land use, and no soil degradation. 2. Biochar as a Substrate: Enhances #nutrient retention, supports #microbes, and fits well in Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA). 3. #Circular_Economy: Converts waste into a valuable resource, reducing environmental impact. Challenges: #Production_costs, scalability, and #crop_specific biochar needs. With the right research, biochar can transform modern agriculture. #SustainableFarming #Biochar #SoillessFarming #CircularEconomy #AgInnovation Symbiosis Centre for Climate Change and Sustainability - SCCCS SYMBIOSIS INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY OM PRAKASH SHARMA Dr Prakash Rao Link to the article: https://lnkd.in/dYsqjm-w

Take a listen to this excellent episode where Kelly Nieves and I chat with Robert Oh MD, MPH. This was definitely an enlightening conversation: especially the reframe about how the future of primary care will actually be driven by patients…a democratization of primary care, if you will. What does that mean for family medicine? I think it means a more expansive and supportive role, to be honest, something to be excited about if we can get ourselves there. In fact, I believe that trusting patients and their experiences is crucial in rebuilding trust in a medical system that has become increasingly siloed in an attempt to defend itself against the concurrent boom of "innovation." (It's not always true innovation, sometimes it's a just a disgruntled tech bro with a good story, rich friends, and a PR team) Ultimately, our job is to find the innovations that really offer benefits by cutting through the fog. Getting on board with technologies like CGMs that put data into patients own hands, might be a first step in that direction.

In my time at Boston Scientific, somewhere along the way I earned the trust of my current and former managers, my director, and a handful of mentors... People leaders who have remembered and reminded me that to do the level of work they have come to expect of me, I need to take care of myself (and not every person faced with unexpected personal challenges is so lucky to have this kind of support in the workplace). These figures in my life have each granted me the flexibility that I have needed to fulfill and, in some cases, exceed the expectations of employment -- showing up and getting the job done. I am grateful to report to people leaders who in this past year have actionably supported my individual/situational needs and my career development. I look forward to their continued support as we work together "Advancing Science for Life" through meaningful innovation for patients affected by digestive diseases across the globe. 2024 Highlights: I was fortunate to represent my franchise and attend the Florida Live Endoscopy Conference where I viewed a multitude of live cases and attended educational breakfast sessions/lectures. I was a finalist for a "Team Player Award" at the 2024 R&D Awards for the Endoscopy Division (photo below shows the amazing award winners and finalists along with leadership). Last but not least, I earned a promotion in title to Engineer III. Another important steppingstone in my career. I'm not really one for New Year's Resolutions but that's because I believe that we can be intentional each and every day to move toward a better future for ourselves and/or others. That looks different everyone because of our respective personal obstacles and that's okay. Instead of a resolution, my hope for 2025 is that I continue to surround myself with folks like me, who are resolute in their intentions to help and support the people in their lives and those they might never meet in any way they can. I challenge anyone who reads this to remind themselves of something/someone they're grateful for this year and to decide what they want to bring with them into 2025.

I look forward to the future and what we as visionary healthcare leaders in the Alfred Emergency Academic Centre can create and share. Here's to revolutionising the future of Emergency healthcare!
We're thrilled to introduce you to some of the visionary leaders at the AEAC who recently gathered to reflect on our remarkable history and the evolution that has led us to where we are today. Over the years, the Centre has flourished, expanding its scope to encompass four key streams of activities: education, research, global programs, and more recently, innovation. Through these pillars, we've been able to make significant strides in advancing emergency care practices and improving outcomes for patients. As we look ahead, we’re filled with excitement about the limitless possibilities that lie ahead for the Centre. We envision a future where the Centre serves as an avenue for opportunities for our staff and collaborators to make meaningful contributions to emergency care. Our ultimate goal? Striving for excellence in everything we do. By fostering a culture of continuous learning and collaboration we're committed to pushing the boundaries of emergency care and setting new standards of excellence.
