Cackle, Cackle, It's International Hyena Day Hold on Hemingway, take a step back Disney, we respect hyenas! Playwright Hemingway created a lot of bad press for hyenas, once referring to them as shameful cowardly thieving beasts. Disney tends to cast hyenas as villains in most animations. It goes without saying that hyenas are misunderstood and often cast in a bad light. So, on International Hyena Day, we are here to revere this incredible species. Here are 5 cool facts: 1. Hyenas are both successful hunters and scavengers 2. They live in a clan run by an alpha female 3. They have a variety of vocalisations ranging from chortles to giggles. Each vocalisation indicates an emotion : anxiety over a kill, calling the clan members and excitement at the dinner table. 4. They're called the "clean up" crew because they remove debris, flesh and mess from a kill made by predators. 5. They will stop at nothing to feed themselves and the other clan members. This includes wading and swimming through water. #safari #didyouknow #worldhyenaday #hyena #mysundestinations

When the naughty are rewarded.. Watch the ad first so I don’t spill the tea for you. As Christmas approaches, so will the wave of feel-good Christmas ads. This one has a familiar narrative that draws you into happy families preparing for Christmas, and one Grinch-like character ruining it. Then as expected, to fight or convert every villain there is a hero, in this case, a little girl. She bestows her kindness upon this angry little creature. Considering the festive context, I expected the little guy's heart to be touched and him to start participating in the festival. Instead, the next scene reveals, the kid joining him in his destruction. With the message of Myer’s - gifts for the naughty and nice. The fun plot twist conveys the message of “gifts for everyone” in a memorable way. What I loved about the ad is that instead of showing sharing joy in a very traditional “nice” way, it shows sharing joy in a “naughty way.” The villain and “hero” are a fictional character and a child, which makes their poor behavior acceptable to the audience and lowers their defenses. The ad brings childhood nostalgia, where shared naughtiness brings umpteen joy. We bond better with people who share our quirks, our weirdness, and niche tastes, than those who like the parts of us that cater to the masses. The last disapproving look from the family feels all too familiar, the one we often got, when we had that one naughty friend, who would supposedly corrupt us forever, putting our future at risk! https://lnkd.in/gmdAqmCY #Marketing #Advertising

Great Escape 80-th anniversary. On the night on 24 March 1944, 76 Allied prisoners of war evade their German captors, escaping via a tunnel codenamed Harry, under the wire of a prisoner of war camp Stalag Luft III in Żagań (former Sagan).
