New Season 2024 to change the rules of the game This year, 2024, the World Padel Tour disappears after 10 years, and it is now Premier Padel who takes over the responsibility of continuing the high-level professional Padel circuit. Up to this point, both circuits were coexisting, however, the high pace of tournaments has led to the decision for the World Padel Tour to disappear, making way for Premier Padel. If you're wondering what Premier Padel is, it is a Padel circuit led by Nasser Al-Khelaifi (president of PSG) and Qatar Sports Investment. Its impact since it began in 2022 has been immediate and it has become the most innovative and professionalized circuit, to the extent that it is the circuit in highest demand. The new circuit offers the possibility of playing tournaments in unique locations never before seen. Some of these locations include Roland Garros, the Pyramids of Giza, or the Foro Italico in Rome. Its debut took place in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, from February 26th to March 2nd, which demonstrates the country's firm commitment to this sport. Tournaments are also held in Spain, with no less than four tournaments to be held: Andalucía P1 and P2, Madrid P1, and the Barcelona Tour Finals. In these tournaments, we will see some of the biggest names in Padel such as Alejandro Galán, Juan Lebrón, Agustín Tapia, and Arturo Coello. THE REPORT THAT DRIVES OUR INDUSTRY I was in Malaga last month for the convening of the old and new padel worlds. At the Padel World Summit, one of the many things unveiled was a high level indication of Playtomic’s upcoming Global Padel Report. This report has been the go-to authority for everyone in our industry the past year, and that includes me as I’ve immersed myself in this sport. And we have looked at it from every angle. Word has it that later this month, we’ll see the new report - the 2024 edition - which, just like its predecessor, will give us the statistics we need, the data that will drive our industry and Padel Businesses throughout it, forwards. Why are Padel Events and Tournaments essential ⁉️ As Padel’s growth settles in the future, it is crucial that there will be regular tournaments/events for players of all abilities in order to keep the community engaged 🔑 Why? 🫱🏻🫲🏼 They enable collaboration between brands/people that may not happen otherwise. At Golden Point Padel UK, I have been lucky to work closely with a wide range of brands such as Padel Corner, Pizzarova and Lost and Grounded Brewers Ltd! 👨👩👧👦 Events give players something to work towards/look forward to as they can visit a new centre, meet new players and show off their Padel! Competitive Events will motivate players to constantly improve their game whereas Social Events provide players with a fun (yet structured) way of playing. Pepita Stonor is a prime example of how events have helped build a community at Empower Padel 👏 Challenges? 🤔 🗓️ One thing Ben Harris and I have noticed is the challenge of trying to find events or information on events, so The Padel Directory have built a one of a kind event calendar that will cover all bases from social events through to professional level tournaments such as the Hexagon Cup! For me, I hope that venues (that do not already) begin to recognise the importance of external tournament providers where the maximum effort can be put into running a well structured, successful day for everyone involved!
