Legal vs Illegal Bad vs Good 🌟 A Story About Right and Wrong 🌟 I met a coconut seller who had an interesting story to tell. He talked about how the police let him sell coconuts by the roadside, but they also asked for some of his money. Then, in the evening, the police told him to close his shop early. He was upset, and I could understand why. But when we talked more, we realized something important. The reason the police wanted him to close early was because there were too many cars on the road at night. If he kept selling, it could make traffic jams worse for everyone. It made us think: Who's really to blame here? Is it the coconut seller for selling without permission? Or the police for only enforcing the rules sometimes? Or maybe it's the people who buy from him? This story showed me that what's right and wrong isn't always black and white. Sometimes, we have to think about both the rules and what's fair. We still have our laundering issue to take care of. I basically need a way to manually resolve withdrawals so that they are marked as completed and update the books correctly. In this case, the withdrawal was requested but what I really need to do is refund the Stripe card used to onboard the user. Maybe I will decline the withdrawal and immediately force a refund instead. 🤔 This might actually take some further analysis and I am not entirely happy with the whole process (about as happy as I am with someone trying to abuse our system 😤). In a recent The Conversation UK article Kamran Mahroof and Sankar Sivarajah explore the growing food black market and it's continued impact on the cost of living crisis. In the year to January 2024, food prices rose by 7%. The rise of food black markets has impacted this increase as the British Standards Institution recently stated 22% of all thefts from lorries and warehouses last year were of food and drink products. The growth of these black markets has coincided with rising cost of living and increased demand for lower prices and many households are having to make decisions between heating and eating with 21% of adults in October stating they worry about finding the money to buy food for their families.
