𝗣𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗘 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹!   RESTORE is a prospective, randomized, controlled multi-center study comparing the effectiveness of ReActiv8 to Optimized Medical Management (OMM) for the treatment of intractable chronic low back pain. ReActiv8 patients demonstrated clinically and statistically significant improvement in outcomes at 1-year: • -19.7 ± 1.4 improvement in back pain disability (ODI) compared to -2.9 ± 1.4 in the OMM group • -3.6 ± 0.2 reduction in pain (LBP NRS) compared to -0.6 ± 0.2 in the OMM group • +0.155 ± 0.012 improvement in health-related quality of life (EQ-5D) compared to +0.008 ± 0.012 in the OMM group “This patient population has historically had extremely limited options beyond temporary palliative treatments and drugs. The results in this study demonstrated that ReActiv8 Restorative Neurostimulation provided superior improvements to the lives of patients above and beyond what is currently used to treat them. How do we best educate treating physicians in complex MOA domains? In Nephrology, complement is a difficult to comprehend realm even for the skilled clinician. The nuances of Blys (BAFF) inhibition, April inhibition, or the combination of the two will require a significant lift to elevate the treating clinician. What meaningful endpoints can the P3 studies demonstrate? What about combining therapies with ERA, ACE, ARB, MRA, ASO, and other therapies. What HEOR and RWE will resonate with the renal community. How can access be best assured? I look forward to the challenges and opportunities in the months and years ahead.

Check out this article from Amplitude magazine featuring a peripheral nerve stimulation system that could alleviate pain for amputees. Neuros Medical, Inc. recently published its findings from a clinical trial of their high-frequency nerve block system, Altius. Altius is showing promising results and could be used to help alleviate some pain of amputees suffering from chronic pain. The study involved 180 lower-limb amputees in a double-blind clinical trial. Patients with the active device reported a notable decrease in pain levels and a reduced need for opioid painkillers. This advancement is something to keep an eye on and it could help many more alleviate post-amputation pain such as phantom limb pain. Acute severe pain in emergency department: Morphine or low-dose ketamine? Acute Severe Pain in Emergency Department: Morphine vs. Low-Dose Ketamine Introduction Severe pain is a critical issue that can be dangerous due to its location and potential misdiagnosis. Aim This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of morphine and low-dose ketamine for treating severe pain in the emergency department. Methods We conducted a randomized open study with patients over 18 years old experiencing severe pain (NRS ≥6). The morphine group received 10 mg of morphine, while the low-dose ketamine group received 30 mg of ketamine. We measured the effectiveness by checking if patients achieved an NRS of less than 4 within 10 minutes. Results We included 120 patients: 66 in the morphine group and 54 in the low-dose ketamine group. The average pain score at the start was similar for both groups (8.8 for morphine and 8.6 for ketamine). After 10 minutes, both groups had a similar number of patients reaching an NRS of less than 4. However, the average pain score was significantly lower in the low-dose ketamine group. More side effects were reported in the low-dose ketamine group. Conclusions Low-dose ketamine is as effective as morphine for managing severe pain in the emergency department.
