India and the UAE are set to launch an online portal to help ships obtain clearances before docking at ports part of the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEEC). The portal will initially offer port clearance and payment facilities for ships docking in Indian and UAE ports, and later include customs clearances, container tracking, and integrated logistics players. The portal is expected to boost the confidence of other countries in the IMEEC, such as Saudi Arabia and Oman. The Group of Seven industrialized nations committed to promoting infrastructure initiatives like the IMEEC in the G7 Summit Communique, aiming to enhance connectivity and foster economic integration among South Asia, the Arabian Gulf, and Europe. India aims to bank on its strong trade ties with the Arab Gulf region and leverage its economic growth trajectory since 1991 and its role in the G20. CFBR
