Travel Insights with Junie✨️💫 We visited the Boston Public Library which was established in 1848. What a magnificent building! It got me wondering about our library. Well, do you know that our national library traces its history back to 1823 with the establishment of the first national public library as suggested by Stamford Raffles, the founder of modern Singapore? I have very fond memories of spending my Saturdays at the old National Library at Stamford road. That was built in 1960. We would read books and borrow some home and then buy wanton mee from Ah Por which was a huge treat for us. The old national library building was closed in 2004 to make way for the Fort Caning Tunnel despite much protests at that time. As an adult, I must confess I hardly visit the library - these days we have electronic books and of course we buy physical books to display and hopefully read one day. Speaking of books- the famous adage " Don't judge a book by its cover. " We do that a lot. We are usually taken in by the title and the cover and then turn to read the blurb or a quoted praise from someone credible. If you think about it, our mind does that too when we look at people. Most of the time we look at the cover, some times we look at the introduction and believe the critics. We do not spend time to read the content. Do we read books like people? Do we send LinkedIn connection requests to display them as numbers? When was the last time you visited the library? Have you read any good books lately? #reading LinkedIn #library

From above and on a pretty day, the city of Chittagong, Bangladesh looks inviting and at peace. But that is not the full story. This city is home to 5 million people, most of whom do not know our Savior. Mission groups produce color-coded maps to picture lostness or progress in ministry. However, those maps do not give a real picture of what is happening in a given area. God knows each family and person. He knows who is active in ministry. Missions require personal relationships with the lost. It requires open and honest conversations about the person and work of Jesus Christ. As a missionary, I worked hard at getting to know the people. I wanted them to see my life and hear my testimony. In order to do that, I got to know them. If you feel you are spending too much time with people from your organization or like-minded organizations, you probably are. A life coach can help you make a plan to balance your time between family, outreach, and the hundreds of other tasks vying for your time. Follow the link below to my website to book a session with me to find out how I can help you succeed in your missions journey. https://lnkd.in/gb3hJt85
Who can identify the city in this picture? Comment below and tell me something interesting about this city. Then, check back in on Friday for the full story.

In a new blog, Owen Garling and Professor Michael Kenny share insights from their ongoing work on 'cultural infrastructure' in relation to Culture Commons' work on developing more inclusive and responsive approaches to mapping both tangible and intangible cultural infrastructures. The concept of "cultural infrastructure" has gained attention as policymakers expand the idea of infrastructure beyond traditional utilities to include spaces and amenities like libraries, parks, and cultural venues such as museums and theaters. This infrastructure supports both social and cultural life, fostering community identity and economic growth, particularly in the creative industries. A new cultural infrastructure map could identify and address cultural deserts, but its creation involves complex decisions about what to include and how to measure. Engaging communities in the process is essential for capturing the diverse values these spaces offer, contributing to healthier, more creative communities. https://lnkd.in/eFkb8P_N
