In January 2024, we launched the internal initiative “8 Waste: Together against waste”. The campaign ran until August and aimed to identify eight types of waste and encourage their reduction in order to improve processes. Our European sites have generated many great ideas for reducing waste. One idea from the administrative area came from our Spanish site in El Puig. This involved the digitalization of training evaluations by moving from paper-based assessments to a fully digital solution, reducing processing time by 60% and costs by 40%. Another idea came from our site in Krefeld. In the incoming goods department, there were too few interim storage locations for coils with open sample status in relation to the quantity delivered. By switching to defined storage areas near the interim storage area, the preparation time was reduced by almost 40%.
