Ya-Ping Hsieh, Mario Hofmann and colleagues have been featured on the cover of Nanoscale Horizons for their exciting work on the xelective activation of MoS₂ grain boundaries for enhanced electrochemical activity! In their communication, the authors show that oxidative activation of MoS₂ enhances the electrochemical performance of grain boundaries for the scalable realization of metal-free hydrogen evolution catalysts! After two months came back to Vietnam for family reasons and was unable to work on the paper revision until recently, my latest paper has now been published as a Letter in Physical Review B. In this Letter, we offer new insights into the parity selective transport effect in zigzag graphene ribbons - an intriguing effect that enables the formation of a transport gap in zigzag graphene ribbons, which are otherwise semi-metallic. While this selective transport effect in p-n zigzag graphene ribbon junctions has traditionally been attributed to the parity of the energy bands or wave functions, we demonstrated that these features serve only as prerequisites for activating the parity effect. The effect strength, however, depends critically on the alignment level between the p-n ribbons. Additionally, we highlighted the significant role of edge states in forming the transport gap width induced by the parity effect. The full research paper is available at: https://lnkd.in/eCvhnDdp

Tomorrow Halvar Rommetvedt, Trude Gullaksen, Jørgen Jakobsen and I will be attending Gasskonferansen in Oslo on behalf of Gasnor! This year’s conference at Sentralen focuses on the “Future Energy Mix”, bringing together key players from the energy gas sector, including biogas, natural gas, hydrogen, and propane. We look forward to re-connecting and making new aquaintances:) Key topics include: Future Energy Policy: How will policy meet the needs of businesses? Future Gas Market: Exploring players, technologies, and market opportunities. Future Energy Systems: Examining the synergy between hydropower and gas to ensure sufficient energy for industries across Norway. #Gasskonferansen #Gasnor #EnergyFuture

BATT4EU Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda The SRIA sets out the priority for battery research and innovation in Europe. It provides the main guidelines for the Horizon Europe work programmes and funding in the coming years. This Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda builds heavily on the Roadmaps that have been published by the Batteries Europe and Battery 2030+ projects. This document replaces the SRIA of the BATT4EU SRIA of 2021 and the Batteries Europe SRA of 2020, lists the key strategic actions that the European Batteries R&I Community need to take. https://lnkd.in/ddDC-2Sb

Excited to share our most recent work led by Phuong Le along with collaborators Andong Liu and Prof. Yayuan Liu, which was published in ACIE! https://lnkd.in/gRcSc3Wy We show that discrete macrocycles mimic the properties of semiconducting MOFs and COFs while providing improved processability. Further, using electrochemically mediated CO2 capture as an example, we show that colloidal phenazine-based organic macrocycles improve electrical contact and active site electrochemical accessibility relative to bulk COF powders. Congrats all!

Very proud to attend to the first general assembly of the European Alliance. Stellaria is among the 5 SMR molten salt concepts that have been retained in the initiative. The EU will do an assessment of the new technologies to support the startup’s. The criteria are: -Advanced safety -Environmental impact -Fuel made in the UE -Jobs in the UE -Laureate from an existing program -Development of the UE supply chain - European partners -contribution to net zero objectives We are very excited to see that #STELLARIA fulfills all requirements, specifically with its very advanced safety and full cycle closing features to provide a complementary vision to existing technologies. We hope that EU new financing 2025 and over will be put in place over the next years to achieve the goal to be ready with new advanced SMR in the early thirties. We will cooperate with molten salt laureates to promote the emergence of a very promising new molten salt sector in Europe.

Come to meet us in Munich Germany and see our presentation a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) that evaluate the environmental impacts of producing Li2CO3 and LiOH.H2O of the various production routes for lithium carbonate (Li2CO3) and lithium hydroxide monohydrate (LiOH. H2O). Global Warming Potential (GWP) was found to be lowest for projects using Chilean brines, followed by Argentinian brines. Spodumene production in Australia-China showed higher impacts than in Argentina and Chile. The assessment of LiOH.H2O production via four different technologies indicated that refineries using lithium chloride (LiCl) as input had a lower GWP compared to those using Li2CO3. Among the technologies evaluated, the Ark Green+ refinery demonstrated the lowest GWP and overall environmental impacts. Following this, the LiCl Electrolysis refinery had the second lowest GWP, while ArkBlue had the third lowest. The Liming refinery exhibited the highest environmental impacts, including GWP
Meet Peter Ehren from Lithium Ark discussing ‘Life Cycle Assessment Of Lithium Carbonate And Lithium Hydroxide Monohydrate Production’ at the DIRECT LITHIUM EXTRACTION EUROPE 2024 Exhibition and Conference in Munich, Germany on 2 – 3 September. Join them and others at https://lnkd.in/dF7_i9kz
