🌍 American Swifties spending ‘midnights’ in Europe? Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour has been taking the world by storm. After dates in the US, South America and Asia, the tour has made its way to Europe this summer. Given how hard it was to get tickets when they went on sale, many Swifties are looking in the secondary ticket market to make sure they are able to see Taylor ‘shake it off.’ These fans have found that secondary tickets in Europe are significantly cheaper than secondary tickets in the US. Some sources have reported costs around five times lower, and some have reported prices up to 80% cheaper in Europe than in the US. Even taking some of the more conservative estimates of the cost difference means that tickets for shows in the US can be more than the combined cost of a round-trip flight from the US to Europe and a ticket to the show—as shown in the figure below. While this doesn’t account for hotel and food costs, many US travelers might be choosing to turn a trip to see Taylor in Europe into their summer holidays and at the same time achieve their ‘wildest dreams’. 🎟️✈️ #TaylorSwift #ConcertTickets #TravelSmart #Oxera #DataInsights

The idea of gig-tripping stems from traveling to domestic or international locations with tour stops or concert locations as the anchor of your itinerary. The best example can be people jetting off for the Diljit's or Coldplay's concerts to different cities, just to make a holiday out of the gig. This gives you the option to maximize your flight ticket and get the full value out of the hotel room you paid for, without having to take a separate trip just to explore the same exact location. Despite the additional cost required to extend your stay, it is still considerably cheaper and time-saving than additional travel. #goSTOPS #goMOREbeMORE
