New York is a big reason Democrats lost the House in 2022. And it’s going to be a big reason we win it back in 2024. At the Democracy Alliance, Battleground New York is just one example of our belief that we have to throw out the old thinking about red and blue states. Winning for the long-term means staying laser focused on year-round investment in infrastructure in blue states. And it means going on offense in (so-called) red states, where some of our most effective organizers are poised to change the game. The key to it all is building power. We’re supporting the most brilliant labor and community coalition with deep ties to our communities–who know voters best. Winning in November is essential—and not enough. We have to build a durable, pro-democracy majority for a generation ahead. Read the latest from CNN: https://lnkd.in/ebe_gy5w Learn more about Battleground New York: https://lnkd.in/eHm_Eywp

At MoveIndigo, we agree that NY has the potential to be critical to winning back the House. Our strategy is to reach already committed Democratic voters who have two homes in the state to let them know that they can choose to register at their second home - frequently in one of the 7 toss-up districts in the state - and have an extraordinarily impactful vote. We have an almost 8% re-registration rate with the folks we have reached out to because they recognize the value of voting in a critical district. Our organization is reaching out to almost 50,000 of these dual homeowners who are Democrats, who have a pattern of being active voters and who want a Democratic house as a firewall against the possibility of a Republican trifecta. When politicians use racist, scapegoating language to score points, communities pay the price. The community of Springfield, Ohio, knows this all too well after recent events. Local leaders have rallied together to build trust and move forward, but we know that it takes a groundswell of leaders and allies speaking up to change the norm. How can well-meaning leaders help to address these situations? What can others do to be productive? The bipartisan board of the Ohio Mayors Alliance offers a master class in how to lead with compassion and reestablish our humanity without ignoring real diversity and disagreement. The board’s recent piece in the Columbus Dispatch brought together bipartisan mayors from across the state to clearly call out the harmful rhetoric and remind people that there is no place for violence or threats in our politics. As Election Day approaches, this piece is a powerful reminder of how our communities — and especially local leaders — can reject hateful rhetoric and politics that seek to dehumanize others. https://lnkd.in/gA-TDh_T
Opinion: Ohioans must remain united. Springfield showed us the way.

My fellow Republicans, the essence of democracy lies in ensuring fairness, justice, and transparency. As we strive for equality and integrity within our party, let's reflect on the balance of power within our ranks. When does one family accumulate too much influence? I firmly believe that the Republican Party belongs to the people. However, when a single individual controls the party nomination, the campaign funds, and subsequently positions family members in key roles, it raises questions about the dynamics of power and influence within our organization. The recent appointment of Lara Trump, the Party Chief and daughter-in-law of our sitting nominee, adds another layer to this discussion. Furthermore, the involvement of an 18-year-old family member as a pledge delegate in their home state raises concerns about the inclusivity of our decision-making processes. Let's reflect on whether our party truly embodies a multi-tiered system where diverse voices are heard and valued. As we navigate these complexities, let's remain committed to upholding the values of democracy, fairness, and accountability within our Republican community. Otherwise we are no better than those Left Winged Liberals. Their has to be fair and clear transparency, that is what drain the swamp is all about. #Republican #RNC ##trumpadministration #fairness #foxnews #cnnnews

When We Don’t Feel Empowered, Our Voices Go Silent The results of yesterday's election are earth-shattering for many of us, especially those working in community who remember the years from 2016 to 2020. We remember the raids, families torn apart, the violence and trauma. This isn't just a shift in power; it's a deep, painful reminder of the work still needed to ensure that our communities feel empowered, safe, and heard. As I broke the news to my son, his immediate response was, “What if he arrests us?” With all my heart, I reassured him we are safe, though I struggled to believe it fully. These election results have brought a wave of uncertainty, fear, and reflection on the importance of empowering our communities to vote, speak out, and believe that their voices truly matter. For those of us working in community, this is a major setback – albeit an unsurprising one. We know that meaningful change requires education, engagement, and empowerment. When people feel valuable and see that their values and voices are represented, they are far more likely to participate. It’s not just about voting; it’s about cultivating a culture where people understand that they have the power to impact decisions that affect their lives. We must foster spaces where every individual feels informed enough to make empowered choices, sees the value in their participation, and understands their role in shaping the future. Let this be a call to action for all of us. Let’s educate, engage, and empower so that no one is left asking if their voice matters or if they are safe. Our communities need us, and we need each other.

This election, like many before it, feels like a sea change. But in truth, it is neither an end nor a beginning. It is simply a step on the long road towards tomorrow – a journey we must travel together. The deep divisions in our society, laid bare by this election, underscore the challenges ahead. It would be easy to succumb to discouragement, to retreat in the face of uncertainty and conflict. But at SFF, we choose to forge ahead with renewed determination. We choose to double down on our commitment to social justice and racial equity, to embrace a vision of a Bay Area – and a nation – where everyone, regardless of background or identity, can thrive. To achieve this vision, we must actively build our collective power – a power fueled by love. Today, we call for a courageous love, a love that fuels our fight for justice and empowers us to dismantle the systems that stand against it. Let’s work together to create a society where everyone can participate, prosper, and reach their full potential. Read full message from CEO Fred Blackwell: https://ow.ly/omWn50U3sJa #LoveAndResolve

Wisconsin Polling: A Tale Of Two States Wisconsin is not Pennsylvania. Neither state is New York, or Florida, or Texas, or California. What is important to voters in Wisconsin is different from voters in Pennsylvania, or New York, or Florida, or Texas, or California. With such a diversity of people across the whole of the United States, in order for a President to be able to bridge whatever divides exist within the American people, a President must first show both the willingness and the capacity to engage across those divides. Regardless of whether the next President is Donald Trump or Kamala harris, their success as President will hinge in large measure on their capacity to engage across the many political, cultural, and demographic divides that exist in our society.

Yesterday at the Mecklenburg County Democratic office, we did something different… we had “Dinner with Friends!” People from different professional sectors joined the table to learn more about the candidates, voting and so much more in a safe space. What made this so special is that politics in general tend to significantly lack engagement from diverse audiences which is a contributing factor to low voter turnout. I was especially moved when several people shared that they were unaware that we even existed!! To help change the direction, we have developed an intentional strategy to engage all people and to ensure that everyone feels welcomed to join the party! If you notice a lack of diversity in your sector, develop a strategic plan complete with performance metrics because that is the best way to remove blind spots and ensure that the best and strongest talent are at the table. To join the party and to have a seat at the table as a doer, door opener or donor, click here www.meckdems.org as we’d love to have you!
