“There are a number of issues in the mining industry that are unresolved, and which need the positive force of an echo chamber to work through,” Rohitesh Dhawan of ICMM says in keynote address to Resourcing Tomorrow! He outlines four main issues that need to be addressed: 1. How do we ensure that there is a common understanding on achieving the maximum local benefit from mining activities? 2. The physical/environmental footprint of the mining industry. 3. The need to speed up permitting of new mines, while maintaining high standards and not cutting corners at any cost. 4.
