About the fundraiser: My name is Iboro Philip and I am fundraising for my sister-in-law, Sharon Ekpedeme Philip, who is currently being managed for End-stage kidney disease at the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital (Nigeria) She has been on twice-weekly hemodialysis since December 2023. The last 9 months have been challenging in every sense and have taken a toll on Sharon, her husband, and their two boys, Blessed and Charis. Being unable to carry out her motherly duties for her boys, who mean the world to her, breaks her spirit. With the support and kindness of a few close friends and family, we've been able to navigate through uncountable dialysis sessions, blood transfusions, minor surgeries, and an abundance of medications. While going through all of these, Sharon is still able to smile through most of the days and brighten other people's lives. Sharon needs your support for a life-saving procedure --- A Kidney Transplant The doctors have informed us that a kidney transplant is her best option for having a renewed and healthy life. The cost of a kidney transplant and associated expenses is about $23,000. From medical bills, transportation & accommodation to post-surgery expenses, the financial implications are truly overwhelming. The Kale Print team are sweating it up for Cystic Fibrosis this ‘Sweatember’! Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is the most common life threatening genetic condition affecting New Zealand children. It is a progressive, genetic condition that limits the ability to breathe over time. As a multi-organ disorder, CF causes issues with the lungs, digestion, sinuses, blood sugar levels, liver, and many other parts of the body. At present there is no cure for CF, but we can help. Cystic Fibrosis NZ is the only charity in New Zealand dedicated to supporting and improving the quality of life for people with CF and their families. CFNZ’s goal for 2024 is to raise $100k during Sweatember. The funds raised support vital programs like the physical activity grant Breath 4CF and CFNZ’s new Wellbeing grant, improving mental health, physical health and quality of life for Kiwi’s living with Cystic Fibrosis. Hi All, 💥 I am happy to share that we have already raised 67% of our Team target of £1,000.00 on our fundraiser for MS Society!! 💥 In a couple of weeks me and my colleagues from KBS Maritime will be hiking 25km across Exmoor in aid of MS Society and today I wanted to share about my own journey with Multiple Sclerosis. MS is a complex and often invisible illness, with symptoms that can vary greatly from person to person. Some common symptoms include fatigue, cognitive challenges and muscle weakness. For me, fatigue can be overwhelming at times, making it difficult to focus or find the energy to complete everyday tasks. When tired, I often experience brain fog and find it hard to string a sentence together (although I then tend to blame it on speaking a foreign language 😉 ). The key for me is to keep sort of a weekly schedule to ensure that I do not overdo it all in one day and make sure I have a day off here and there where I have absolutely zero plans, or more accurately when the plan is to just rest😴. How MS Society helps me? They have so many useful resources on their portal and provide access to qualified MS Nurses who have the tips at the ready to guide me when I get overwhelmed and lost with the day to day. 🧡 Your contribution to our fundraiser can make a significant difference in the lives of those affected by this condition.
