As Breast Cancer Awareness month comes to an end, I have been reflecting on a conversation I had with someone recovering from breast cancer. It is difficult to talk about the emotional and physical toll cancer can have, but she highlighted her desire for everyone to understand the need for early detection. Most breast cancers are self-detected. Finding it in its earliest stages, when it is often easier to treat, is key to successful outcomes. It’s essential we all follow the recommendations for self-examination and screening. At work, we are deeply committed to raising awareness, signposting resources, and creating safe spaces to have, what can often be difficult conversations. Information and resources can be found at breastcancer.org a link I also plan to share today with colleagues.
