📣 🎉 Happy National Human Rights Day - Do you know why the L comes first in LGBTQI+? ️ 🎉 📣 This year, I want to share something personal to celebrate equality: my wedding video with my wife, Charly Rainbow. The audio speaks a message that we hope resonates with people. (Link: https://lnkd.in/e3m4Y_GY) Today reminds us of the ongoing struggles for human rights around the world. While we celebrate our love, it's important to raise awareness for the LGBTQ+ community facing limitations and persecution. When planning our wedding, Charly and I wanted to do our part. Here are some sobering 'not so fun' facts we included in our reading during our vows: ➡️1992: Same-sex attraction was classified as a mental illness in the UK. ➡️2014 (just 10 years ago): The first legal same-sex marriages took place in England & Wales. Myself, at 23, never thought marriage would be possible. ➡️Globally: Today, being gay is illegal in 64 countries, with the death penalty existing in 11 countries. Sadly, advocating for these rights came at a personal cost. We lost and faced criticism from some family members over our choice to raise awareness on our wedding day. Prejudice is a learned trait. You're not born prejudiced; you're taught it, let's do our bit to make the world a better place and create a more inclusive world.

🎥🍿The impact of societal pressures on young boys and men is profound. "Be a man" - two words that hold immense weight. This Friday, I recommend watching "The Mask You Live In" (2015). The film explores breaking free from #traditionalmasculinity, addressing emotions, friendships, objectification, and conflict resolution themes. #Gender stereotypes intersect with ethnic and social tensions, portraying a complex journey of self-discovery and #identity. Have you seen this movie? Share your thoughts 💫 #diversity #inclusion https://lnkd.in/gKCMEsbm

Clearing up the confusion: What is DEI? 🚫❌ It's not about "racism" or "oppression. DEI is about creating inclusive spaces where everyone feels heard and valued. 🤝✨ Read our blog titled "DEI Is Under Attack. Do you know the story of Lindsay Morris and Reed J. Williams? If not, you are missing an inspiring story of #leadership and #creativity that changed Healthcare definition of #GenderIdentityDisorder Lindsay Morris (https://lnkd.in/dyudseYZ), an acclaimed photographer and mother, was confronted with the harsh realities facing LGBTQ+ youth, particularly the alarming rates of suicidal ideation. Concerned for her own child, Reed j. Williams, and the broader community, she sought a way to help these young individuals find hope and belonging. Her journey led her to a unique solution: creating a sanctuary where children could explore their gender identity freely and without judgment. This sanctuary became a place where the youth could find "their tribe" – a community that embraced them as they were and celebrated their individuality. In 2012, Lindsay Morris published a deeply moving photo essay titled "You Are You," (https://lnkd.in/dg98uj_5) documenting a camp for gender-nonconforming children. This camp, informally known as "Camp You Are You," provides a safe haven where children can express their true selves away from societal pressures and constraints. Their efforts have spurred discussions on the medical and psychological frameworks surrounding gender identity in children. For instance, the presence of such inclusive environments has prompted a re-evaluation of the Gender Identity Disorder classification in the #DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders). #pridemonth #healthcare #mentalhealthcare

• Curious? Why do modern women either not religious or want God to be their Match Maker but refuse to obey? • God wants females to have a traditional mindset (being submissive and respectful), to be fruitful and multiply, and "say what they mean, and mean what they say?" • Females are no longer feminine, acting as ladies anymore. • Males are no longer masculine, acting as gentlemen like before. • Because modern women are masculine, not feminine, is why chivalry is dead. • They do not take accountability for their choices and blame it all on men instead. • Gender roles are lost and forgotten. • Destroy by feminists seeking equality by becoming men. • Modern men can not get along with modern women because of their attitudes. • They are so masculine as alpha that they lack feminine energies like being humble and having gratitude.

Age discrimination... Whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young.” ~Henry Ford The Age Discrimination Act of 1975 prohibits discrimination based on age in programs and activities receiving federal financial assistance. Day 1: International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is an annual international campaign that starts on 25th November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and runs until Human Rights Day on 10th of December. Each day throughout the campaign, we'll be sharing our projects to raise awareness, share resources and build a whole-community approach to changing the culture. With Ben Serlin, I lead Changing the Culture (CtC) at Middlesex University - a programme of initiatives committed to educating, empowering and inspiring student engagement in social justice projects that have a transformative impact on our students and our local community. CtC participates every year in #16DayofActivism to highlight the work co-created with students, colleagues and community partners to support the call for the prevention and elimination of violence against women and girls. On Day One of 16 Days of Activism, we are spotlighting #HearMyVoice – our collaborative initiative in partnership with the London Borough of Barnet, aligned to Barnet Council’s 2020-25 Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) and Domestic Abuse strategies, addressing misogyny, domestic abuse and violence against women and girls. In 2023-24, our #HearMyVoice campaign focused on everyday forms of misogyny that often go unchecked, unnoticed, and unchallenged. Earlier this year Graphic Design students Claire Bath and Fuat Hassan created 'See the Unseen', a project highlighting the problems of misogyny becoming so normalised we sometimes don’t even recognise it for what it is. For young people especially, this exemplary project brings awareness to everyday misogyny and the importance of us all taking a role in supporting positive change. With its striking visuals and messaging, the project is being featured in local bus stops to encourage reporting of unacceptable behaviours. For the students involved, the process of creating See the Unseen was as transformative as the project itself: “My experience with this project has been very positive and educational. Although I was aware of these acts, it was the low-level acts of misogyny that really opened my eyes. Once I was aware of these actions, I started to notice them more in everyday life, which women have to unfortunately deal with. They should not have to accept these behaviours, which is why we need to bring further awareness to this.”– Fuat Hassan, BA Graphic Design https://lnkd.in/e4jKT2K8
