Building a tech company as a non-technical founder feels a lot like rowing a boat with just one oar... and a few unexpected passengers! A team full of enthusiasm, and a few unexpected blockers thrown in for fun. Like this comic, the path to ‘release’ isn’t exactly smooth sailing! When you’re not the one writing the code, you learn quickly that your role is about vision, communication, and finding people who can navigate the waters with you. It’s about focusing on what matters, supporting your team, and not letting the ‘blockers’ sink your boat. To all the non-tech founders out there, don’t let the lack of technical skills hold you back. I work with very talented people. The product and engineering knowledge at Jam is awesome - in the most literal definition of the word. There’s no doubt in my mind that they will change how software gets built. Working alongside a team like this could be intimidating. I use Jam everyday. I get to dogfood WIP features. I know how high the bar has been set. But instead it’s inspiring, open-ended, and so darn fun. Not to say there’s no pressure, or days where I think "I’m not good enough to be here." Comes with the territory. We’re a startup, we want to succeed at changing the status quo. But the humans at Jam are some of the best people I’ve ever met. We help each other reach the bar. It’s the only way we win. This week we got together for Jamboree (Jamese for offsite) and had our first company hackathon. I cannot begin to explain what Jam engineers “hacked” in 2 days - but I believe it’s the future of debugging (and more). Did I hack? To my point of how awesome this team is - not only did I hack, I got to team up with Jam’s head of engineering to build the silliest thing (you’ll see in the video lolol). I can’t wait for 2025, I’ve never been more excited to work in this beautiful world of software!!! Grateful I get to do it with these people 💜

Out again with Sillan - the Codeunit horse. Who this time wanted all the attention for herself (she wants you to notice her brand new ribbon :) In horse jumping, the margins can be incredible small but they still make a world of difference. The same goes for integrations. It is easy when everything works but when something happens, that’s when the margin will make all the difference. Buying a new integration platform, do not ask how well it works, ask what happens when there is a power outage (or something else as dramatic) and how fast you will be up and running again and what resourced that are required from you – those questions tells you if you are buying a good or bad integration product!
