How do you start being taken seriously in the cybersecurity industry? This is the wisdom I wish I had when starting my journey. Despite the strides we've made, many women in cybersecurity still struggle to be taken seriously. This struggle stems from both intentional and unintentional biases inherent in the field. Yet, there's hope and progress, thanks to efforts by organizations like Women4Cyber Foundation and inspiring role models like... Ejona Preci Michelle Edmondson Anna Collard 🌻 Sarah Armstrong-Smith Confidence Staveley Bianca Lins 🛰️🚀 Isabel María Gómez Octavia Lojnita María Saskia Brugman GA ...and undoubtedly many others. But the challenges persist. Women navigate invisible battles, from proving their worth to overcoming guilt for pioneering in cybersecurity while trying to make it work on the homefront, facing judgments for positive gender discrimination, or being labeled difficult when questioning status-quo. My journey from Secretary to Senior Executive was filled with both immense opportunities and numerous visible and invisible obstacles. While it's easy to attribute these challenges to gender, they're deeply rooted in cultural and societal norms that need evolving. We must pave the way for the next generation of young women to thrive in this industry. 𝙇𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙅𝙪𝙙𝙜𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩, 𝙈𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝘾𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙤𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙮. In today's Wednesday's Wisdom for Women, I share three Emotional Intelligence strategies that can help reverse this trend if you resonate. 𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝘀𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗮 𝗕𝘂𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘁? 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗕𝘂𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘁, 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝘆𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝘀𝗻'𝘁 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝗲𝗻. It's time to challenge and overcome these stereotypes. Every day, there is a  talk about why there are fewer women representation in cybersecurity.   Often on social media platforms, we come across discussions, posts highlighting the lower representation of women in cybersecurity-related content, there are observations about the limited number of women as panelists and speakers in various events.   Recently, CyberFrat conducted its CyberFrat Gold meet in #Bangalore, but there wasn't a single woman attendee. This noticeable absence underlined the need for greater increase and active participation of women in such critical events. It's crucial for women to be part of these gatherings, where networking, learning, and showcasing innovations happen. Our presence is important for a diverse and inclusive cybersecurity community.   Observing this, CyberFrat has launched a special initiative, to bring diversity in the community.
