As an entrepreneur deeply entrenched in the world of design, I find myself resonating profoundly with Micha Commeren's quote: "The function of design is letting design function. To me, this encapsulates the very core of what design represents – the seamless fusion of form and function, where every element serves a purpose. Design is not merely about aesthetics; it's about problem-solving, user experience, and ultimately, enabling functionality. In my journey as both a professional designer and entrepreneur, I've come to realize the immense power that design holds in shaping experiences and driving innovation. Whether it's crafting intuitive user interfaces or conceptualizing innovative product designs, the essence of design lies in its ability to transcend mere aesthetics and create meaningful solutions. As we navigate the ever-evolving landscape of design and entrepreneurship, let's remember the profound wisdom in Commeren's words. Let's strive to harness the true potential of design – not just to make things look good, but to make them work seamlessly, enriching lives and driving progress. I invite my LinkedIn community to join me in embracing the function of design, and together, let's pave the way for a future where design doesn't just exist – it thrives. ........................................................................................................................................................... #Design #Functionality #Innovation #Entrepreneurship #ThoughtLeadership #MichaCommeren #DesignQuotes #LinkedInCommunity

The Artistry of Architecture and Entrepreneurship: Where Self-Belief Meets Innovation 🏙️🌟 Imagine standing at the foot of a soaring skyscraper, its glass façade reflecting the sky like a shimmering mirror 🏙️. Each angle and curve tells a story of vision and creativity, where architects blend artistry with functionality to redefine city skylines. In entrepreneurship, it's akin to crafting a blueprint for success ✨. Entrepreneurs are modern-day architects of their dreams, daring to envision what others can't yet see. They build ventures from the ground up, embodying resilience and adaptability in every brick laid. Self-belief is the cornerstone of this journey. It's the unwavering confidence that fuels innovation 🌟. Just as an architect sees beyond the bare bones of a structure, entrepreneurs see possibilities where others see challenges. They turn ideas into reality through sheer determination and belief in their vision. Innovation, like architecture, is about pushing boundaries. It's about daring to think differently, to challenge norms, and to create something extraordinary 🚀. From cutting-edge technologies to sustainable designs, both fields strive to leave a lasting impact on the world. Together, they form a symphony of creativity and courage, where each idea and endeavor stands as a testament to human ingenuity. So, whether you're sketching blueprints or drafting business plans, remember: the beauty lies in the journey of turning dreams into landmarks of success.

Entrepreneur + Designer: Can This Still Be a Success Formula Today? The role of designers in business has shifted dramatically over the past century. In the early 1900s, as industrial production boomed, designers worked closely with entrepreneurs in factories, crafting unique products and experiences that shaped entire industries—think of legends like Ettore Sottsass at Olivetti or Dieter Rams at Braun. European countries, especially Italy and Germany, emerged as design powerhouses, producing iconic products that would define an era of innovation and set the standard for future quality. But how does this collaboration look today? Can designers still play a transformative role in modern enterprises? This question came up during a thought-provoking event by Future London Academy, featuring Anthony Davies, MD of Global Design at Sky. Some insights from that discussion have led me to consider: ⚫️ A Role That Has Changed The designer-entrepreneur relationship has evolved. Where they once partnered closely, sharing vision and direction, today’s designers often find their roles more operational and fragmented. Hyper-specialization has led to a narrower focus, often at the expense of leadership and strategic influence. ⚫️ Profit vs. Quality In a market landscape heavily driven by short-term profit pressures, many companies face a tension between good design and immediate commercial goals. Some companies, like Apple and Airbnb (both design-led and founded by individuals who value design deeply), successfully position design at the core of their strategy. However, many others assign designers to limited roles, restricting their potential to shape the vision. ⚫️ C-Level Relationships Today, designers interact not just with the entrepreneur but across the C-suite—with the CFO, CTO, CPO, and sometimes the CEO. Balancing these peer-level relationships may be key, as Anthony Davies pointed out. Designers, regardless of their executive rank, often navigate complex organizational dynamics to make their voices heard. Today, as in the past, I believe that design remains fundamental to an organization’s success. Whether internal executives or external consultants, designers today should aim to bring a company’s vision to life, centering on users and customers. More than any other executive role, designers focus on the end user, transforming the entrepreneur’s vision into reality. They resonate with markets, create unique experiences, and shape a future beyond current market demands. ⁉️ Questions for Business Leaders: How does design factor into your decision-making processes? Do your designers have enough influence in strategic discussions? And do you consider long-term success? #design #designleaders #innovation #Entrepreneur #designer #future #success

You must have felt expensive or important in your Jordan’s? Right!! Have you ever wondered how does this all work? How Brands Make You Feel Fancy? Let’s understand the impact of designs in this aspect. Great design makes brands feel expensive and trustworthy. Think Apple stores. 73% of consumers base buying decisions on design alone (Adobe). Clean layouts, modern fonts, and high-quality visuals tell a story. They say: "We care about details, and you deserve the best." So next time you see a sleek website or a cool package, remember - it's designed to make you feel good! ☑️ Let’s connect if you want to make your customers feel good too #graphicdesign #entrepreneurship #entrepreneurs #founders #startups #designer
