🎉SÜDPACK reached fifth place in the Innovation Champions ranking of WirtschaftsWoche. We are delighted about the result and recognition. WirtschaftsWoche engaged Munich Strategy to evaluate 4,000 SMEs.   SÜDPACK stands for innovation and sustainability. Our company not only invests in chemical and mechanical recycling to close loops in the plastics industry. There is also a focus on material-efficient and recyclable mono-structures that create new benchmarks on the market. A special role is played by our LCA tool EcoTrace. It allows us to take account of the environmental impact of packaging over its entire life cycle and in all of its facets and to optimally advise customers based on sound, fact-based analysis.   The innovation score for the company evaluation is based on the following criteria: 🔥 Innovation vitality: Is the company characterized by continuous innovation? 📣 Innovation perception: Is the company perceived as innovative by the market and competitors? 📲 R&D and tech power: Does the company sustainably invest in innovations? New research to cut water and energy use in packaging 💧📦 “Profitability and environmental consciousness must go hand in hand,” write VTT’s Atte Virtanen and Harri Kiiskinen. 💡 At VTT, we’re working on a process to cut water usage in fiber-based packaging by 90% and energy use by 50%, saving billions in costs and resources. 💡 The initiative will establish a new innovative open-access pilot line in Jyväskylä, Finland. The collaborative research aims at developing and testing commercially viable, sustainable alternatives for cardboard packaging, hygiene products, and nonwoven fabrics. 💡 With over 50 companies involved, the initiative is "a starting point for an entirely new technology that enables the manufacturing of low-carbon, energy-efficient, and recyclable fiber-based products."
